Burn marks on cloth

i have simonis 760 which has burn marks from where i practice long straight ins (from the spot to far corner )
and certain shots that i repeatedly shoot and have set up
i discussed this with felice at simonis and she said the higher nylon content of the 760 compared to 860 or 860 hr makes it more susceptible to get burn marks from the friction (heat )of the balls .she said it does not affect play
also she said that wax on the balls can also cause marks on the table
she was not a fan of me using meguires quik ultimate detail on my aramith tournament ball set

Have you done this? I think the cue ball rests on the cloth in the donut's hole, not on the donut itself...?

Yes, and yes. I just went and checked it and the leading edge of the donut is definitely burnished, so I snapped a pic and replaced it with a new one. No sign of burning where the CB initially sits or just past the dounut, so it looks like the donut is taking the brunt. I am guessing that I've broke 50-60 times on it.

The 8 ball break I am using is similar to Corey Duel's soft 10 ball break, hit harder to compensate for the added mass of the rack. My closed bridge is of the stilt variety so that I can get the cue level as possible to minimize skipping on the way to the head ball. This would seem to work to minimize burn in any case because I am not exerting as much down force on the CB.

Given the shallow angle of the force, I can imagine the edge of the donut coming into play and taking the brunt. I wonder if that adds to the hop.

HR has the same wool /nylon ratio as 760 but uses the weave/thread count of 860 and is shaved a tad different. Great cloth imo. Ditto on the QuikDetail, contains silicone.

Since I changed to using the stilt bridge I haven't seen any hopping. Unlike many players, I am staying down like on any other shot instead of elevating and am watching the CB travel to the head ball.

Over time, the Meguiar's Ultimate quick detailer will leave yellowish marks on the cloth - where you rack the balls and the ball tracks along the cushions most noticeably within a few feet of the corner pockets. I've used it for years in my Bludworth ball polishing machine, but will be exclusively only using Auto Glym Fast Glass when I next change our cloth out. It was recommended to me from someone on here years ago.

Thanks for your post
I will try that product out
Felice recommended aramith ball cleaner

mequiars # 34 final inspection is the best if you are going to use any kind of polish. it isnt a wax or abasive like the others.

aramith doesnt make any polishers they just repackage or change an already kind of cleaner. there are no miracle chemical combinations that are being found by these companies. just good advertising and claims.

Many players use a down angle cue that when you draw whitey, the tip goes into the cloth for 3-6 inches. This technique will wear out a table and make burn marks all over the cloth. Its a style of drawing whitey. I don't recommend it for home table use. A little more level cueing position will stop burn marks and make for a more controlled draw stroke.
Good luck

Just got Jins new table a month ago and it has burn spots all over. Not where he breaks from as we use the outsville drill pad but just in general all around the table. We are used to this, just an eye sore but as many others mentioned, no difference in playability.

860hr
