Bustamante vs. Burford this Tuesday Night @ Sandcastle Billiards -Edison, New Jersey!

Assume you mean "what young American plays the same speed as this kid?"

Brandon Shuff is the first name that comes to mind and his game is above that of Burford.

Had the pleasure of meeting Burford in Vegas last week. Nice kid with a lot of talent and a bright future. Heard from a reliable source that he's an 8-handicap golfer, too.

Thanks, yes thats what I meant.

Make sure you understand the rules in this match.

This will be Ten Ball - Race To 13 featuring "Arena Rules", the infamous 30-second shot clock and the "Sudden, sudden death rule". If the match is tied at 9, 10, 11, or 12, the players will be automatically "on the hill". Winner of the next game determines the winner of the match.

Thanks, much appreciated.

I know this was just one race, but what American plays at the same speed as this kid?

Lots. And, more than a dozen that play better.

Of the Americans that were in the recent US 10 ball tourney, Shuff, Sylver, Wilkie, Dechaine and Jesse Engel come to mind (younger players). Then there is Shane.

For the sake of argument, Burford is, I believe, a Brit.

Dont get me wrong, he is a young, upcoming force to be reckoned with. It will be interesting to see if he can "break thru" into the elite ranks. He's close, but I'm not ready to give him that, yet.

Congrats to Phil. His style is very different compared to other top UK guys like Appleton/Melling/Gray. Just by watching you can usually tell which player is from UK without even knowing him. Not with this guy. I've heard he actually started with 9ball as a youngster unlike most other Brits.

Burford

I look at Burford and automatically think back to the Beach Boys Era. He plays like an American, not a Brit. In fact, his mannerisms around the table remind me a little of Corey Deuel when he first showed up on the scene.
