I have my helmstetter VIP that i love, but I find that longer cues fit me better, I'm 6'1 with long arms. would it be possible to change the butt sleeve to make a cue longer, just an inch or so, I was thinking of making it a hoppe bumperless. is this possible?? im fairly confident it won't effect the cue seeing that its the end, any thoughts, and who would be able to do it?? thanks as always guys.
also, is it possible to have a Z2 3/8X10 refitted to a 5/16X18??

Find a cue repairman and have the butt cap replaced with one an inch longer. A lot cheaper than replacing butt sleeve.

Yes the 3/8 x 10 can be changed to 5/16 x 18 any cue repairman can do that also.

yes they do have a weird feel im sure its mental , but ive made a few and my dad has one he loves it but then again hes short im 6 ft tall

Just a heads up, but the bumper is a vibration reducer. Going bumperless will affect the hit. I have a cue that felt a little dead to me, so I took the bumper and the weight bolt out. I liked the feel much better. I ended up getting a nylon bolt installed to hold the Delrin bumper in place and had the buttcap smoothed out. It gave the cue a much crisper hit. To me it feels like an old one piece now.

You might not feel much of a difference with a 2 to 3 inch longer shaft. A longer butt will affect the balance and the feel of a cue a lot more..............

I have made several for local players and they all love them.

And making a shaft 2 or 3 inches longer does not?

I have done a lot of conversions and the balance point remains about the same as it depends on how the cue was made. If it has a weight bolt you can remove the bolt and figure out how much weight you are adding with the longer butt cap and then either cut the weight bolt or leave it out to keep the weight the same.

The problem with the 30 inch shaft is the flex. If you like whip then it is ok. If you want the hit to be like it was with 29 inch then forget it.

I made a few 60 inch cues back in the day and never could get them to play like the 58 inch cues. I tried making the joint size larger and a few other things but never could get one that played like the 58 inch cues. But by extending the butt to 31 inches and keeping the shaft at 29 inches it played the same.

Now don't get me wrong I have seen a 60 inch cue 30/30 that played great but then it was an exceptions to the rule as it was the only one that I have found to do so. I measured the joint and it was .840 and it played like a 58 inch cue.
