Buying 1st Table - House Cue Advice

I'm researching what my best options are for buying my first pool table. I've found a lot of good info on this site, but am looking for recommendations on what to look for when buying house cues (brands, features, etc.). I'd like to get something somewhat nice, but not over the top, since most people playing on it will be very casual players. Thanks.

Valley Supremes seem to be pretty popular around here. They seem to last a long time and many people seem to like them.

Here is a link at PoolDawg.com

We also have some Muellers brand house cues at our local Legion Post. Tips seem a little hard but get the job done.

I am sure there are many others out there, but these are two I am familiar with. Good luck with your new room & choices. Be sure to post some pics when it's done.

What kind of table are you getting? If your getting a Diamond Pro or a Brunswick Gold Crown for example I would get 4 Fury DL series cues. Nice hit and inexpensive. For a bar table or a home use only type table I would "minimum" get some valley one piece or maybe even some Huebler one piece.

FWIW.:)

Don't be surprise how rough people can be with their pool cues, so you may want to keep a private stock of house cues for your more savey house guests.

i agree completely on the furys. mine hits good and it was cheap.best cue for the money.

Thanks for the help. I've been looking at some Olhausen 8' tables. Nothing too fancy, something in the $3K range.

I like the idea of a nicer set of house cues for special occaisions.

I was hoping to keep it under $50 for the house cues, assuming, assuming there are decent house cues in that range.

Simple, buy wood, by ones that are STRAIGHT, roll em on the table, thats pretty much it, buy either Valley or Dufferin cues.
