Buying a new shaft

I was thinking about buying a Z2 shaft for my old 1980's Tyler (its my playing cue). My question is in regard to the pin and how to pick the right shaft with the proper joint? I would assume the legnth of the pin in crucial in determining the proper joint but what about diameter or thread coursness? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

You need the diameter of the pin and the number of threads per/inch. The length is usually not important unless you have a extra long custom made pin.:D

Also...plain black collar or collar with a ring.

Usually you can just give your brand name of cue, although they aren't always the same.

It's a Dan Janes designed cue, essentially a JOSS. A shaft that fits JOSS should fit as far as I know. Same joint as far as I know. 5/16x14 pin, piloted, same joint collar diameter as JOSS.

Can anybody confirm this?

.

Could I ask WHY you want to buy this shaft? Have you played with another Joss with one of these shafts or is your shaft broken or what?...JER

Norm,

Take a look at our website, www.obcues.com.

There you can find detailed information about the joint sizes and styles. We not only show the different joints that are most popular, which your's is most likely one of, but we also list the diameter of the shafts at the joint. This can be very helpful in matching a cue shaft to a but.

Obviously, while you're there you can take a look at our offerings. You might find one you like. But feel free to use the information to help you with whatever cue shaft you choose.
