Buying a Table?

99% of all the best made pool tables use 1" thick slates...but just because it has a 1" thick slate...don't mean you're buying a well built table! Who makes that Elephant Balls Pool table anyway? As far as I'm concerned...before you purchase one of these tables...you SHOULD first find out if it's any good! I think I remember another line of pool tables called "Horses Ass Tables" built by Scrotum Billiards Inc....Imported from the country of "Timbucktwo"...LOL

Glen

Sorry about that...I need some sleeeeeep!..LOL

We used to sell The Elephant Ball Set but they had too many defects so we quit.
I've never heard of an Elephant Ball pool table. 1" slate is rather standard for pool tables.

Pretty standard for the slate, but have heard nothing of the tables or who is putting them out there....
Maybe one of us should do our home work.....

(or both)
ALthough if Glen doesn't know anything about them I don't think I'd go in that direction.

Seems like you should forget the gimmick names and stick with pool tables made by reputable makers: Diamond, Brunswick, Olhausen, Connelly, etc.

I heard Scrotum Billiards is using the new Ballbuster 88 cushions on their tables.

1" thick is good. The problem isn't thickness with these tables its how there cut, if the slate is from china, its usually how highs and lows. This table is made in china and would be considered a low-med grade table. Dont pay more than $1500 out the door for this table.

If you love pool and play alot, have your own cue, and can put together decent runs - don't buy this table, you won't be happy with your performance.

Elephant Balls tables are built in Vietnam... Nothing more then a typical cheapo import. Horribly constructed, green chinese slae, uncured hardwood and finishes. They have a decent look to them but just like the sets dartman refers to, the tables have various flaws/problems.

I was covering a set of rails and found a very small cheap pair of bifocals :) Weird!!!

I'd stay away from that... If you want a nice table for $1500 get a used Olhausen...

If you find any dog tags, send 'em in.

Cushions conform to B-52 standard, I presume.
