The C-1 is indeed very hard to find. They were made out of Katz house cue blanks. Jim McDermott requested that the Katz company should provide the blanks in raw form and way oversized, but they just sent them almost finished house cues. The result being, that the joints were kinda small and with the big pin being used, they were subject to break very easily.
If you want a really nice sneaky, the imported Star S-1 has a substantial joint diameter, and hits as well if not more solid than any of the domestic McD's made in the past.
The only reason that the Scruggs have such a demand is this site. Endless touting and claims that it is the best sneaky ever made. Hence, people are lined up to pay ridiculous prices for a house cue conversion. Even Timmy giggles every time someone forks over 500 plus for a bar beater.
