I know it and you know it.. but the populus always use the term cad / cam.. so its more universal... :grin:
Yes, a cam function in Autocad would be cool.

I find it hard to believe that AutoCad does not have a Cam function.

Solidworks and Mastercam can be had in one package.

Inventor is the better drawing software by Autodesk imo.
Inventor/CAD in one isn't out but Mastercam is certified by Autodesk.

I work for schools here and we have MCam and Autodesk in high schools.
When I was teaching Autocad, around release 9 there was a third party cam package that was integrated. I am sure there are some adaptable alternatives.

lol, release 9...i dont think i was born yet...just kidding, i started on 10 or maybe 11
LOL I started on 2.4 or 2.5.. MS DOS based. I remember when it came on 13 3.5" floppies and somewhere about disk 6 or 7 you would get a bad disk.

We installed the Autodesk 2013 Suite this year.
They came in ONE USB jump drive.
They used to come in CD's then DVD's.
The USB drive even had Architectural Desktop, Inventor and 3DS Max.
Some 40 gigs of data.
Including the library for Inventor. You can practically make assemblies from the library of drawings.
Or assemble bridges and buildings.
if you want a good laugh, or possibly throw up....try drawing something in bobcad. The only thing i like about it is you can drag and drop a .dwg right over the top of the bobcad screen and you have a nice clean drawing. No need to clean up a bunch of broken lines or anything like you have with some dxf's
Autocad has some stupid won't do's. In the version on my computer it won't fillet an arc segment. I have to do the circle / ttr comand and do it, then regroup the pline.

At work we run 2012 and inventor....i dont use either one...i'm happy with 2009 and i'm not changing till operating system forces me too. I've looked at inventor cam but but cant make up my mind. Tired of spending $ on software
I'm a Cad Cam guy. Autocad, Catia, Edgecam,Gibscam, Mastercam, Pro E, Solidworks, Solidcam, Surfcam, Unigraphics, Vericut. Nice Peacock with the notched diamond head. A couple of notches in the body might look great also. Just a thought, to change the game,lol.
I made a few and didn't like any of them. But when I design a cue like the one in process, I usually end up with 20-30 inlays and variations.
When we get the forearm cut I'll post some real pics...
