anybody up in calgery that can give me an up date? thanks :D

I won't be going up there till later this week but I can still post some updates later.

Mike, you should set up some v-bookie for this event....I could make a killing betting on all the unknown local players ;)

A personal friend of mine James Yoneda(A+) won his first match 11-9 against an unknown and meets Earl Strickland in a race to 11 next match. What a rush, meeting The Mighty Earl, arguably (6 world titles, 5 US Opens) the greatest nine baller of all time.I'm sure his heart will be pumping.

Most likely he'll lose, however, In my opinion getting to play Earl, he's got his moneys worth already.Added to that, a motherload of experience on his plate and a good measuring stick to see just how much more he needs to improve. :D

By "local", I hope you are not talking about Calgary players................none of them will finish in the top 8.

Wanna wager on that? At the last event aka the Western Canadian Open Edwin Montal finished fifth. I noticed there were quite a few players from Winnipeg which is good to see. I'll post back later to compare how well we did compared to the players from Winnipeg.

One of you guys will have an opportunity to bark very soon, I see that Tyler Eddie (sp?) plays Jason Klatt in the second round.

Is James by any chance a Japanese grad student from UBC? Or used to be?

Well.................just got home and seen the result..............anyway good luck to Edwin against Eddie...........a match up of two players equal in talent.........if nothing else it should be a great match to watch.

Go Eddie!

Hows this for a matchup:

Alex Pagulyan
vs.
Mike Vidas

Anyone wanna give me 2:1 on Mike?
Alex will likely win, but 2:1 is a good bet.

Rumor has it that Mike V has some eye problems, and might not be able to play much longer. I wish him good luck.

Hmmmm, I see Grant Bolander on there. He's going to Vegas with my team. Lost 11-4 already though.

Anyone wanna bet on a repeat of the finals last year?

Johnny Archer vs Alex P.

i better check the draw and see if its possible.

The theme of the day yesterday seemed to be hill-hill matches. Watched local player PJ Massicot beat Eric Hjorlefson, remember what I said about good unknowns from Calgary ;) Hewitt beat Deuel which isn't the big upset everybody thinks, Danny is a great player.
