California Buckeye Burl question

How hard is it to find a awesome piece of the CA Buckeye Burl with swirls of Yellow/Green/Black like in the photo of the Sugartree cue?

Judd is making me a cue and I ordered:

Jet Black Gabone Ebony forearm
8 long points made from CA Buckeye Burl (no veneers)
Butt sleeve also CA Buckeye Burl
Black leather Bison wrap
Rings in all positions

The issue is I want the Buckeye burl to be of the same quality and color combination as the Sugartree Buckeye Burl.

In person those greens will look more grey and the yellows a bit more washed out. Not to take anything away from that gorgeous cue but that picture has clearly gone through processing.

That's not to say you won't come across cuts that are rich in different hues. Its a little tough to find them like that at the right size. Plus you're dealing with all the holes, voids and unstable knots that are typical of this type of wood.

Also you don't know how it'll turn down. You'll want to see those colors run through the blank not just down one side.

So there in lies the problem. Its much easier to select woods in person which is not always an option.

Thanks for the information. I hope it turns out well. It's always better in some ways to buy a cue already made so you see exactly what you are getting
instead of having a grand design in your mind and expectations of how the cue you commissioned will look like.

Either way I know Judd will make me an awesome cue.
I only hope I have not set my expatiations so high that they can't be met. I look forward to an amazing contrast between the Ebony & the CA. Buckeye Burl.

Isn't it also true that burls need to be chemically stabilized too? That would add a non-natural influence on any final color.
