There is also an offensive 2 way shot. That’s the one that doesn’t work in your rules cause you aren’t sure on which ball will go but you are aiming for two balls not just one. I wasn’t attacking you. Sorry if you got offended just giving a little chit

Are you talking about playing safe, or playing a combination shot?

I was referring to ChrisinNC. He criticized me for not knowing what a 'two-way shot' was.

He's talking about a common shot in 9-ball where, for example, the shot on one ball has a high likelihood of the CB caroming and also making another ball, often the 9-ball.

The beauty of the game? I don't look at it that way. I've always believed that the more luck you can eliminate from a pool game, the better the game. Can you imagine what straight pool would be like if slop counted?

Reason #241 why 9-ball has blown by straight pool in popularity. (Note: I like straight pool, too.)

Sounds like you like to gamble. Some luck in the game helps the action flow.

But for real: not much luck actually comes into play in 9-ball matches between good players, other than kisses on the break and the initial layout of the table.

I once asked the late Joe Kerr, a tournament director out of Starcher's Billiards in Akron, Ohio and a good friend, why isn't 9-ball call pocket? He told me he agreed with me, but they need lots of entries in a tournament to cover the payouts. If the players had to call their shots, the B-level players wouldn't play, because they rely on the 'luck' factor to have a chance to win a match against the better players.

Smart guy. A little luck is an "action attraction." See also the World Series of Poker.

There's always going to be some luck in any match. Even Strickland and Reyes get lucky from time to time. Although Strickland would never admit it.

Cards are 90% luck. Any game of chance is. I lived in Vegas for a few years and studied the games. Cards, dice, roulette, etc., are for suckers.

Yes, I think that is one of the things that differentiate 9ball. If you take that away it is a different game.
