Camera advise anyone ?

nikon L3

The nikon L3 is priced under $200, giving you 5.1 meg of resolution, large display screen, 3x optical zoom, etc. The best I've seen for the price. You can usually get it for @ $175, at the most, anywhere.

I got the Canon PowerShot A560 with a free 1 gig mem. card for $199 at Office Max 7.1 Mega Pixels / 4x optical zoom / 2.5 lcd

I just bought the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W30 it takes great pics and has Mpeg video with sound...all for $150.00...

I just bought a Panasonic DMC-TZ1 found on clearance for $90. It is a steal at that price.

The TWO BEST things about Panasonic's TZ1 or TZ3 lines is the 10X optical zoom (3x or 4x optical zoom doesn't give you great pictures from far away, and the Digital Zoom just expands the pixelated image, not giving you good resolution) and Optical Image Stabilization.

The Optical Image Stabilization means that if you're way zoomed in, and the camera is shaking, the image can still come out crystal clear. Also, beyond that, this camera takes pictures as soon as you click the button, the delay is something like .006 seconds from when you click the button to when you release it.

You can take incredible photos and phenomenal video with this camera. Moving images, low light conditions...

Panasonic's TZ1 / TZ3 are HIGHLY recommended.

For more features and/or pros/cons, google the Model number.

Hope this helps you,
-Eric

Just a warning! I bought my daughter a Canon Powershot G7 less than a year ago and it is back at Canon for it's second under warantee repair. The battery power system keeps dying. This is the second time and I'm not sure if I would buy a Canon again. It does take great shots and the IS works fantastic, don't need a tripod. Hope it comes back soon...
