I have a small crack on the butt pretty close to the pin and 60% of the time when I use spin, it makes a DZZZ sound.

Can it be fixed?

Is it usual in a situation like this that my motivation is going down hill? It depresses me to see my cue like that and play like that...It feels like it doesn't play the same...maybe its only my imagination.

Yep, just got to pull the pants up! Sorry, couldn't resist.

Ok, I am not a cue expert, but whoever can answer this will need more info. Where is the crack exactly? I assume you are calling the joint the pin, which means the crack would be either on the forearm or the joint. Would it be on the outside or inside of the joint? How long and or far through is it? Is the crack in the finish or in the wood or joint material, etc. Also a picture would help if you can get some good ones.

Best of luck!

Take a good clear macro photo of the damage and send it to Scott Sherbine at Proficient Billiards. He should be able to give you a repair estimate. His work is top notch.

I'm meeting the cue maker next week. I'll try to take pictures but its a very small crack. I tried my shaft on another butt from the same cue maker and it was playing perfect.

EDIT: Ok I thought I could take pictures with the Playstation Eye plugged in the pc but I can't so I'll describe my cue to the best of my abilities.

Its a wood to wood joint with a radial pin. The crack is located where the 'ring' would be placed on a stainless steel joint and its about 1 inch from high to low. Its very subtle one but its there nonetheless. People have been saying that it could be the finish. I removed the rubber and weight bolt and still, when I gently tap the butt at a specific place (between pin and wrap) I can hear something metallic rattle.

I borrowed a friends cue (from the same Cue maker) and put my shaft on it and it didn't make any unwanted noise, it actually sounded perfect so the problem HAS to come from the butt of my cue.

bump.

I really want to know your thoughts on this. I just want to know what to expect before I see the cue maker.
