It's a fairly rare McDermott.

They are about the only Budweiser cues that are worth anything.

McDermott collectors might be interested and the beer/Budweiser collector folks might be interested.

McDermott also made some Camel cues with Joe Camel on them.

Personally, I would love one in my collection, but I am not a buyer right now.

I am not sure when they were made and I don't think they are on the McDermott web site. I am guessing maybe early to mid nineties, but that is purely a guess. You can contact McDermott if you like: http://www.mcdermottcue.com/retired_pool_cues.php

I have looked high and low all over the internet and I haven't found a single mention or picture of this pool cue ANYWHERE! The person at McDermott's who's job it is to identify cues for customers is on vaca for a few weeks and the other gentleman I spoke to just said it was 90's era and worth $200. But no real info!!!

You're probably not going to find out much more than that actually. I would say the value you were given is probably in the ball park. Pretty much standard for a decent plain-ish McDermott of that age. You might scare up more value with the right attention from collectors of beer promo items or McDermotts though. Personally, I wouldn't give that much for it though. I would probably be a customer at more like $150 max....but as I said I am currently not buying.

I doubt they will be able to give you production numbers, but you can maybe find out when the ID person gets back from vacation. Maybe, just maybe the years of production will be available.

I think I have only seen one or two others myself. It looks like the old style McDermott bumper, that's part of where I got the age from, but I didn't want to go pre-1990 on it, so that puts me at 90-95 or so....maybe a tad later but not much I think.

It's possible you could get some info from Budweiser. You might even find them in an old promotional items catalog. You could try contacting them.

They were a limited production cue and only available through Anhauser Busch. They used them for local promotions, employee incentives, etc. I purchased some from route drivers, salesmen, and other sources in the beer biz. Value new is in the 250 to 350 range and used cues average from 150 to 250 depending on the condition.

That puts us pretty much right on with the value, thanks.

Do you remember when you saw them hit the market?

Found this cue in a 1995 McDermott Catalog. It is a McDermott Specialty Product cue.

Minimum order is 25, so there were at least 25 made. I don't have a price on it.
