Can anyone ID this Schon cue?

I was just hoping someone that knows more about cues than I do could ID my Schon cue. I purchased this cue new in 1996 I think. At that time, I never thought about needing to know the model#. But now, it's something I would like to know. I'm thinking the MSRP was $1250. It also has the old (better) "Schon 13" shaft. Thanks ahead of time for any input.

I did not see that. Awesome! I will do some investigating there. Thanks.

The SL18 is very close but slightly different. That is the closest one I could see. I did email the person over there.

That print on the joint collar was only done for one year , '92 if I recall correctly. Look it up and it might help you date it's production. Best of luck! -Josh

that is interesting to know. i just read some other posts and a guy said he thought 1993 was the year. so i guess i bought a 3-4 yr old cue in 1996 then? i bought it from a guy locally who sold cues, etc through cue n case in pennsylvania i believe. he must have been sitting on that one for a while. are these shafts with the 'schon 13" in the collar worth anything?

It may have been '93, and yes it sounds like yours may have been built a couple years before it was sold. Most of the models that came with these printed shafts (that I have seen) also came with a slightly different joint pin than other year models, though not all of them I'm told. Do you have a picture of your joint pin?

My understanding is that the value these shafts hold over a non-printed variant is mostly to owners of cues from that era with the funny joint pin and unusable shafts, so as to have a period appropriate shaft for their cue. Because of that they are worth slightly more, but only as much as someone will pay for them.

This is the 2nd time I've seen this model posted here on AZB for ID,,,,,,,,as far as I know no one has been able to positively identify it.

I'd suggest maybe sending the images to Evan Clarke,,,,,,,and then let us know what you find out please.

Yep, thats the funky, year specific joint pin. Most others are threaded basically the whole length of the pin.

huh, glad i posted on here tonight. found out more about this cue in the past 3 hours than in the past 16 yrs. i've been kicking around selling this cue for a while. i'll never sell it now. just filled out my order form for Proficient billiards to get it refinished, top to bottom. this has been the only cue i have played with since i purchased it in 1996. i did put a 314^2 on it recently though.

i will send some pics to evan. is that just through the Schon website? thanks for all the great info.

i just sent an email to the address listed on Schon's website. i will let you know if i hear anything.

Maybe he did order from cuestix. I sell stuff through them now. Maybe I can ask them to check out any old catalogs.
