Can anyone repair this??

No I am not a cue maker. Its proximity to the wrap definitely complicates fixing this to look new again. You got the chip do your best gluing it back on then you will know what to do next.. JMO

I know I'm new at this but I would clean the area and try to fill it in with black super glue using activator
I don't like using activator in finishes, might work, just makes me nervous. I'd go with black epoxy if it were mine.
I'm a guitar player and superglue is a very popular way to repair these types of blemishes. Put a drop or two on, smash the edge of a razor blade over so it forms a "hook", and drag it over the high spot to shave it down. It's there a reason why this isn't more popular in cue repair?

I'll use superglue for chips, I just don't use activator.

CA glue repairs are far more popular in cue repair than I ever imagined!! Everything from small repairs to complete refinishing of a cue shaft takes patience but can look beautiful.

I put the chip over the hole and put a piece of scotch tape on the end. I can very easily lift the untaped end and put a drop of super glue underneath the repair. My question is the "halo" going around the chip appears to be part of the clear finish that came off with the chipped piece. Is this going to be hard to sand off, and once it is off could I put a small amount of clear coat around the outer edge of the chip then sand/buff to a shine?

If I spent that on a Chinese import I would at least hope for cnc points and inlays. Nothing personal but what the fuck China!
Predator cues is nothing but an import company with a trademark. they don't make or repair anything. they Have "repair centers" like Pechauer and some others, But since they make nothing they fix nothing. I had the worst repair experience ever when I decided to go through those fools to get a repair done that would have been easy except I wanted to have the logo put back on after the repair was finished. I spent far more time and money than the stupid logo was worth in the end. Several "secret location" repairs later it ended up at Pechauer cues for a good and proper repair.
In short Lol. What a surprise that its just tape and paint on an expensive "Predator" It still boils my blood thinking about the year and a half I spent to get a decent butt cap replacement done just to have a stupid predator cat logo on the butt of a falcon made cue in the end.
Don't send it to Predator. That's the best advice I can offer.

I agree 100%. I'll never buy Predator again.

This has nothing to do with China, they are simply building whatever Predator want them to. This is a predator "problem", it's their design and of course they want to build everything for as cheaply as possible, but retain the highest mark up.

Predator is using China to save on labor costs, the same way many companies do. They have expert craftsman over their, but if Predator went that route, their profit margins would be much lower. Not good for the share holders.

I agree 100%. I doubt this thread is good for the share holders either. Once you see how they make them it's pretty hard to want to spend a hefty pile of cash to flash there logo around.
If the OP's cue was mine I would test fit the chip until I was confident that I could quickly place it in the hole nice and neat then I would put a tiny bit of thin super glue on a pointy toothpick, get just a enough glue into the void to securer the chip, pop it in and call it good. Actually it's kind of a one shot deal to get it to look nice. Best of luck!

I have one of Predators jump cues, and I was really surprising to learn that it's essentially a piece of wood inside a plastic tube. While I like the jump cue, I realized right then how cheap their designs are and stopped purchasing their products.

Still use the jump cue though, so I guess I'm a hypocrite? LOL

Please elaborate. What or who is Wheatbucks?

There was a dishonest cuemaker named Wheat years ago who failed to deliver a bunch of cues. He allegedly took deposits and wouldn't refund money. He printed up 'Wheat Bucks' that he sent to customers as certificates for future goods and services. One of his cues went to someone else for a refinish and they discovered that rings and points had been drawn on, possibly with a Sharpie.

Thanks for the Wheatbuck info. Sounds similar to what Predator is doing today, and turning a profit.

Well... Predator provides the product. I'm harsh on predator, but they make something that people seem to enjoy.

Full disclosure, I just don't understand why people buy predators when there are so many custom cues available for about the same money. It's my hang-up and I'm vocal about it. I don't believe their marketing partially because I'm not convinced that low reflection is an actual benefit.

As far as turning a profit, that is and should be the primary goal of a business. What wheat was accused of was theft.
I think the part where you provide a good service or product may have been left out of your statement. Turning a profit is the end result of good work and good products.
