Can cloth be two fast?

I hate real fast cloth. Same goes for too slow. I also dislike real fast cushions.

Lots of people out there think it needs to be faster cause their game is just that good :)

I prefer a speed that gives me as many options as possible. I think a bit slower than 860 would be perfect. 760 is a joke cause it makes me laugh when I hear people say their game thrives on it :) You know, the same cats that think an ounce in cue weight will make or break their game!!!

One game under these conditions and it's mortgage-ville.

Actually i like fast cloth - it increases your options - whitey spins longer.
But i hate fast rails - it takes away options.
In carombole,Verhoven is favored over Soren Sogard because the
rails are toned down, giving whitey more time to grab the rail when
you spin.
I played 9-ball on a carom cloth - drew the cue ball 4 rails - there was
so much spin left on the 4rth rail that it crawled up the rail.
Stopping whitey with spin - 31 oz snooker cloth/34 seconds -
carom cloth /3 MINUTES

Looks like we're cut from the same bolt cloth, partner.

Every table needs to possess some kind of challenge. Whether it's fast cloth or slow cloth, or even tight pockets. When playing on fast cloth I try to avoid moving the cue ball to much. When I do move it I also remind myself the object-ball will travel faster when struck. This let's me hit shots very easy so the cue-ball doesn't run away on me.

This weekend I was in a team tournament on bar boxes, and the cloth to me seemed too fast, and the bumpers were so lively it was unreal. I had to keep reminding myself of it before each shot. I was watching the DCT archived matches with Frost and the other guys and if they had been playing on these tables shooting that hard, the balls would still be rolling. So, is it me, or can some tables, especially 7 footers, be just too fast.

In my opinion yes cloth can be too fast, I had a friend who put Simonis 300 Rapid on his Brunswick Gold Crown IV and it was almost impossible to control the cue ball due to the speed of the cloth. Simionis 300 is some of the best 3-Cushion Billiards cloth made because of how it wear's and because it is very very fast.

I don't have an opinion on the cue weight but as far as the cloth is concerned I take offense to that remark. When I came to Japan in 1991 760 is all there was. I played on that for about 16 years or so. Private play, tournaments etc... I think it's fair for someone to say that they play better on 760 if that's all they played on for damn near 2 decades.

Excellent observation

When Gil Elias had the Rack in Detroit, being a 3-cushion player,he had
cloth that seemed to be faster than 760.With the cue-ball in the kitchen
1 diamond off the long rail and the object ball froze just above the point
you could cross-bank to your pocket with outside english and still hold
whitey in the kitchen. This shot doesn't exist on slow cloth.
I love fast cloth.It's fast rails i can't stand.If i want to play pinball i'll
go to an arcade

Yes, some tables play too fast :D

I like a nice fast cloth....I don't want to over-stroke every shot to get shape....prefer smooth and easy....on the other hand, I'm not a fan of tables that are so quick I can only tap every shot for fear of whitey running eight rails :D
