Can pool be played on a cruise ship?

I often wondered why no one thought to put a self leveling floor under those self leveling pool tables.

Wait .... if they just put a self leveling floor, then they could save money, cause you wouldn't need a self leveling pool table on the floor. :scratchhead:

On the other hand, shots and beers do the same thing and it 's cheaper still. :)

Princess Cruises

I have been on many cruises. One of them had tables and a daily tournament. It was tough playing if the seas were a little rocky, but generally it wasn't bad. After one tournament, I was barred from future tournaments. They wont let anyone play in the tournaments who they consider too good. I have no idea why they barred me.:thumbup:

Having spent time in the Navy and lived aboard ship for quite a while, the only time this idea would be feasible, IMO, is when the ship is docked or achored in port in very calm seas. No "self-stabalizing" table could keep up with what Mother Nature can do to a ship, and the players would be lurching back and forth.

I can just imagine someone leaning over the table just as there was an unexpected movement, and getting hit with sea-seakness/vertigo, thereby losing their lunch on the table....

There are many cruises that do not go into open seas more than a mile or two. They also rotate their cruises to avoid rough seas. Doesn't always happen. You should see all the people having fits with just a little action on the water. Its hilarious.:thumbup:

Cruise ship billiard tables

I was one of the regular Cruise ship billiard instructors, the tables were unbelievable. I made several trips to Alaska, to every island in the Carribean, the Virgin Islands and more and they let me take my wife for free and I went for free (no one ever asked me for $50 for food) and it was truly amazing. The ship would be in 15 foot seas and the self leveling tables worked so well the balls never would move. These tables cost over $75,000 a piece and were on four of Royal Carribean's largest vessels, I made trips on three of the four. I had a good buddy who recently died who asked me to recommend him, I did, he made one trip and *****ed so much Royal Carribean got rid of us all, much to my sorrow, as it was a pool player's dream job. A few trick shot shows, a twice a week tournament, and free everything other than your booze and I drink very little booze. Wish it would return, lol !
