Can someone explain rep to me?

Sorry for such a naive question, I can see reps that I've gotten, but only when I go to check my inbox, then click "user-control panel" up top.

Is there are easier way to know when new ones have appeared?

And how are people sending these to me?

And do they show up under my screen name somehow? I see v-cash, and I don't know what that is or how to get it either :o

Sorry if I am missing something somewhere, feel kinda dumb asking... but I just want to know :)

Thanks!

Not that I know of "user CP"

The square box with a blue band in the lower left corner of the post being repped - push it.

You've 11 green boxes - or the max amount - kudos.

A form of wagering.

Cool, thanks! I thought the green bar meant something, but it never seems to change, so I wasn't sure...

Any idea how the vcash wagering thing works?

Thanks again!

I'm personally very glad you asked these questions. The answers are helpful to me as well. I didn't even know that rep thing existed. I never even noticed it.

Thanks,
Johnny

And guess what guys. When you accumulate over five-hundred ka-zillion they send you a T-shirt, so keep those posts a cummin'. Oh, and be sure to tell them your exact size so they'll be ready and waiting for you.

(Do you think they bought it?)

Rep to Tramp Steamer for being true to himself. :D

Edit: No box appears in the lower left corner of any post on my screen. What am I missing?

Rep is mysterious, ethereal and intangible. I tried blowing all my 500,000,000 points of rep up a gnat's butt once using a device of my own design. To my amazement it caused no noticeable swelling of the gnat's abdomen. Go figure.

The green rep bar doesn't change for any of the users shown on my screen either. The bar has 6 squares lit up for EVERYBODY, even me.

I know that I don't have as many reps as say, Dr Dave, or some of the others that have been on here for years, so I guess the bar is not enabled for some reason.

Do you not have two boxes, one with a blue bar across the bottom and another with a red bar? They are located at the bottom under each person's username, avatar, etc., below join date and location (if disclosed). Not in the post area itself.

The box with the blue bar is used to give either positive or negative (red rep). The box with the red bar has nothing to do with rep and is used only to report a post to the mods.

Go to the forums main page and scroll about halfway down to "vBookie Events". The admin will usually set up a vbookie event for large pro events where you can bet your vcash.

You're using the older forum skin so your rep box is in the upper right corner. Its right next to the #6 in the example below. Put your cursor over it (on someones post) and it will say something about leaving rep.

People using the newer forum skin will see the two boxes in the bottom left of their screen.

When the rep system was new, it took a long time to build up the green bars. You get x amount of bars for x amount of points you accumulate. Because the system has been in place for years, all it takes to reach a full set of bars is to be given rep by one person that has been repped a few times. I just saw a post from someone that has 2 posts and no one has left them rep yet. Everyone starts out like this but as soon as someone gives them rep, they'll get a full green bar.
