So, for those who got Mika's new DVDs, how did you like it?

I'd like to see a detailed review, and I'm sure others would be interested as well.

Thanks,
Jen

mika Immonen vid

Well let me just say that it is what it appears to be. Simple, clean, modern and to to the point.

I just bought vid 1 just to check it out. It talks about the fundamentals but even goes into the pre game elements of buying a cue, and the rules of the games. Mezz is definitely getting some recognition in this vid. Mika does no talking at all, just acting. He is such a confident person that his onscreen presence just takes over.

I'm not going to get into the whole thing, but I can tell you that for 29.00 you are getting a really well made video. There are even some out takes and two dudes who run one rack scotch style.

I found that the fundamentals that were gone over in this video such as pointing your lead foot toward the object ball and gripping the cue and such is the same as what Buddy Hall told me. I think over all the material is pretty standard, but there is one way of looking at kick shots I think most everyone should know. That helped me a in a huge way and I was kicking balls in all day today.

If you are a beginner, look no further, cause this is a real treat for you. I'm sure the other vids are just as informative as this one. The graphics and computer animation are top notch and the video is not boring like you would see in some second class production studio. It is flashy, interesting, and takes you from increasing level of difficulty until, the next thing you know, the video is over and you are left wanting to go hit the table.

I loved them a lot. The production is so well done and very nicely detailed. It was a perfect idea to have Mika to demonstrate the techniques as his stroke is flawless. I also liked that they really start from skratch about stance, grips and bridges...sometimes in tutorials they assume that you know some stuff already and that could discouraging for some beginners.

As everybody, I have weaknesses in my game and the dvds helped me for some facets...like kick shots....the 7 parts for kicking and banking are really nice.

But while it covers advanced techniques (although I consider them more like decision-making) I don't think they are that advanced for someone who knows his way around the table.

They could have added up some drills, mental aspects of the game.

Really nice DVD's I highly recommend it but I hope they will make other ones more advanced.

I have bought all 3 but have only watched the first one. It is what the it says: "Beginner Level". It covers and explains the basic terminology but I don't feel that it really teaches or shows enough about making sure that you gripping and stroking properly. I really think that you would have to get a personal lesson from a instructor for this.

The Kicking and Banking are worth the price of all 3.

The Tangent line is ok but if you want a great lesson on this get Little Joe's DVD.

I don't think you will be disappointed in the quality or the banking and kicking.

The bonus tracks of Mika running racks is something to appreciate and may help the way you attack the table.

It is quality and professionally done. First class all the way.

I'd just like to thank you guys/girls for the kind reviews. I realize that no production is perfect, but it's nice to hear that people appreciate my efforts. I did my best. The criticism is more than welcome as well.

And yes, an 'expert' volume is on the way sometime next year, as is a 5th installment that might be a bit of a surprise.

So far only AZ billiards knows about these DVDs. The DVD's wont see stores shelves for another handful of weeks. Also, you might be surprised to see the trailer popping up on your TV in the near future.

Again, thanks everyone.
