How did he make the 1-10 combination at 10.40 mark?Doesn't look like it'll go
The balls were separated so he could adjust the path of the 10. It was a tough shot as he had to hit the 1 pretty thin and he hit it pretty hard. He was lucky not to scratch. I'm sure Economopolous was aware the shot was possible when he pushed out but didn't think Can Wang would shoot it.

Nice write up Joey. What you failed to mention about the above in red and Shane's miss was that Can Wang pushed out to the straight in shot. It looked to be a slap in Shane's face to say "Here you go", and you still won't beat me.

Only Can knows why he did it. But it was an interesting move.

Shhhh: Do not allude to the psychological ass-pects of ass-whuppins! Let the masses think it is all about runnin out and straight shootin; we will keep the imposition-of-mental-collapse power move to ourselves.

But my point is...Wang prob did do it as a bluff caller.

I (mostly) always root for the underdog, and I was rooting for him...I would like to learn more about the pool scene in China and Taiwan, and how things are going there for the pool biz etc....

I can tell you some things about the Taiwanese pool scene as I spent most of my young life and learned to play the game there. Commercially, pool has been on a decline for the past 5-10 years already and many pool rooms are dying. in my hometown of Kaohsiung (population of about 1.5 million), there used to be at least 600 pool halls during the early to mid 2000s, but probably only 1/10 of it remain standing. Taiwan is a breeding ground for world class players not because of its pool business scene these days. There are some schools that have specialized programs for pool players - they go to normal classes like others but pool is part of their curriculum and they usually live on campus to practice throughout the whole day. It isn't as extreme as some people put it, there is really only one high school that does this at a serious level and has produced some players like Wu Chia Ching and Ko Ping Yi/Ko Ping Chung and various top female players.

Pool got really got in Taiwan during the late 90s and 2000 when Chao Fong Pang won the world championship and won the Challenge of Champions a few times. And Yang Ching Shun then dominated Asia for a a good portion of the 2000s. There are just as many great pros in Taiwan as Philippines although I do believe the Philippines has overall tougher players like Dennis, Lee Van, and Alex. The interesting thing is that there are some great young world class players in their teens and early 20s, however, the trend is that they usually decline very quickly - I would think its because when they grow up they discover that it is tough making money in pool.
