Can you beat the 9 Ball ghost in a race to 10 on a Diamond Pro Am?

Can you beat the 9 ball ghost with the specified rules?

Actually when the pockets are tighter than 4.5" they play a little easier, not harder.

It has to do with the facing angle, the depth of the pocket shelves and the curvature of the pocket shelves, the closer to the center of the pocket you get, the shallower the shelving is....All of those things combined make a diamond pro one of the more difficult tables to play on until you learn how to play on it.

Jaden

The only time I have played on diamonds extensively was at the last Reno open 4 or 5 years back. I wasn't very good back then, but they weren't very difficult at all. Although I am not sure whether or not the were pro ams or not.

Casper is a beast. I only play on 7 ft tables, though they are Diamonds . It was not what you were asking so I didn't vote. This is a great thread for getting a line on everyone though.
Thanks for the poll

Neil, is 4 5/8" the standard? A room just opened up here with 10 and they measure 4.25". Just wondering if the owner ordered them that way.

diamonds come standard now with pro cut 4.5 pockets unless you ask for the league cut only .25 difference and the new cut around the edges are a little more forgiving

THIS IS A PUBLIC POLL. Everyone will be able to see who voted for what.

This is a spinoff from the other thread.
Here are the rules:

Diamond table with 4.25" pockets
Simonis cloth
Break and take ball in hand
Win the game without missing

Balls stay down on the break
Scratches on the break don't cause a loss
combos, caroms, kisses are all legal

Yeah, this is just like the ghost. He sets up a game and when he sees you have the best of it, he starts changing the perameters!

Well its over, 10 to 5 and I shot ok. Not my best but I have played worse. I broke good and all breaks were between 19 and 23 mph.
I made one combo on the cheese and missed one.

Sounds like we have a short-stop in the making.. Nice pro-am BTW.
My match was a mere 20 min 10-1 GHOST..

I am flattered. That is about as good as it gets for me on my Diamond.
If the balls are clean and I am in the right frame of mind I can get there again but the good days don't come around much any more.

Well, I finally got around to racing the ghost. My table is a diamond pro' not the pro am. It also has the standard pro cut pockets, not 4.25 inn ones. Tight all the same. Anyway, beat it 10 to 7, so that felt OK. I don't think I could have beaten it two or so years ago. Looks like I missed the poll though. Oh well...happy new years...

Unless everyone is playing on the exact same equipment...what's the point of this line of questions?...as Diamond hasn't built a 4 1/4" corner pocket 9ft ProAm:rolleyes:

Not as stated but gimme a game on the wire and a race to one and you can bet what you want!!!

No way I believe almost 32% of the people here can sometimes beat the ghost in a race to 10. Can someone do a poll that shows the names when you vote? I would guess it would be around 3 to 5% tops.

If you click on any of the #'s representing votes in the poll, all the voters' names will appear.

I never tried the ghost on a pro am, so I didn't vote. I'm in GC country for whatever reason.
