Can you wash cloth?

Probably a stupid idea, but....

I just moved into a new house and currently my table is 100% apart, so I was thinking, would it be possible to wash the cloth? (Simonis 860) ... and if so, how do you suggest going about it?

The cloth is about 6 years old... under the rails it looks new and the difference to the playing area is really noticeable! (home use, but used a fair amount). It wouldn't be the end of the world if I wrecked it trying to clean it... just an excuse to put new stuff on, but I'd rather not as it still plays perfect.

A Dry Cleaner could possibly help you out. I don't see why they wouldn't be able to help. Good idea to clean i think. lol

I would imagine that dry cleaning might run $20-$30, but I could be wrong. Hopefully, dry cleaning won't shrink the cloth any. If it were me, I'd just bite the bullet and look for a deal on Simonis 860HR. Good luck with whatever you decide. If you dry clean, let us know how it turns out.

Washing cloth?

Having done some table repairs, myself, how do you re-stretch the old cloth? Most mechanics will trim the excess cloth around the edges of the table? Also, if you have any lines on the table, it will be impossible have them straight. The spots will be off also. Good luck.

If I had my table apart, I'd be putting new Simonis on it. The only additional cost would be the price of the cloth.

my experience

This is of course my experience . I had moved and saved a pretty good bed cloth off my table while moving . Had a new cloth waiting for the installer but I thought hey ....why not see if this will clean up .I took it to a laudry mat and put it on cold water /gentle cycle .I was amazed how well it cleaned up .It came out almost spotless and I used maybe a 1/8th of cup of detergent . It seemed not to shrink and I put it in the dryer for less than 5 mins just to get the excess wet off. Well......by the time I got it home and it dried it SHRANK !! ALOT !! I mean if someone really knows how to stretch cloth they may be lucky and get it on a 7 ft table ,maybe. I was just playing around because I knew I had a knew piece but be warned . I did keep it and plan on maybe covering a chair or something in my room with it . :killingme:
