Can someone advise me if a Predator Z shaft can be turned down to 10 mm to play snooker.I wont use it with pool balls at all.

Can any cuemaker make a shaft for a snooker cue around 9.5 to 10mm tip with a 3x8/11 thread of a sw cue?I essentialy want to try a low deflection shaft but can consider anything, any advise would be appreciated

Thanks

well

The bore is like .250 or 6.35 mm
The tenon for the ferrule is like .400 or about 10.5mm

With some mods I guess you could get it to 10mm but as is I don't think so. Numbers say no.

Monto I say "no" but of course you know that already. I'm sure after everyone finishes up the holiday/family then you will get some more info. Maybe Ryan/Rat cues will chime in.

Like I said, I can make you a 10mm shaft from my 6-pie laminates. Kilby Cues uses them to make 10mm 3 cushion billiard shafts and they work great.

I think Dave pretty much answered your question.

to turn it down to 10mm, you would make the entire tip end of the shaft smaller than the the tenon for the ferrule at 10.5mm. In doing so, obviously, you would turn the ferrule completely away and have no ferrule. Also, the wall thickness left would be very thin and would most likely fail.

The only alternative would be to plug the hole in the center, but that would add significant Tip End Mass, which would defeat the purpose of the Predator shaft in the first place, Low Deflection.

Thanks Royce,

yes one part of my query is answered but still looking if any cuemaker would make a 9.5 to 10 mm shaft for a sw joint cue.

Thanks

So, can someone tell me if the 3/8"x11 tap that Atlas sells is the same thread as SW pins?
Thanks
