Jeez, where in Northern Ontario is there civilization, much less pool tables? We frequently go to the Lake St.Joseph/Horseshoe Lake area in Northern Ontario, and I don't see much in the way of roads or pool tables. Is there a pool playing sub-culture there? Should I be bringing my pool cue on the next vacation??

'Northern Ontario' as understood by its citizens is actually quite far south in terms of general Canadian geography. I suppose the fact that there is a considerable 'Southern Ontario' leads them to believe that some live in 'Northern Ontario'. For example, what's just south of Detroit MI ? Windsor Canada ! The farthest north towns and cities in Ontario are south of Saskatoon, and we're not the most northerly city in Saskatchewan ! I guess what I'm saying Willie is that your impression of Northern Ontario is more accurate than the locals :)

Here's what allrefer.com has to say (and we can all trust a site called 'allrefer', can't we :) ) :

(I didn't edit out their little funny 'Sadbury', which I'm guessing should read Sudbury)

Alright this has nothing to do with pool, but that's ok.

I'm not a resident of Canuckistan, but I've been there. I guess that's sort of like saying I'm not a doctor, but I play one on tv.

Anyway, Winnipeg is great, gotta love the strippers in that town.
 
Calgary Alberta Canada, easily one of the top 3 pool playing cities in the country.

I gotta see that, a City playing pool ... I think the altitude is getting to you :)

OK, OK, there's some fine players in Cow Town, in fact I think that Edwin won the tournament in Prince Albert a few weeks back.

Say, do you know what happens when someone from Saskatchewan moves to Alberta ? The average IQ of each province goes up ! :D

Im also a Vancouver Canuck, living in Salmon Arm, BC. I grew up in Vancouver though. You will usually see me in all the tournaments in the province Grand Forks, Vancouver, Kelowna, and Kamloops. Anyone know of any other tounament hot spots in BC? I'm usually the 6' skinny guy that never leaves the practice tables. You will notice me standing around drinking beer and gambling it up with the Filipino's at Commadore BIlliards on granville about every 4-6 months. I havent been down there since February last year though. Not since Harold died. R.I.P. BC players sure miss him.

Joking aside Dave.

Your not trying to say Saskatoon is a better place to play pool than Calgary are you? If you are I think that's rather hilarious. Saskatoon doesn't even have any full time pros, Edwin Montal is a great player but IMO he might not even be our best....Tyler Edey has had a great year finishing high at the US Open beating Strickland and recently beating Jose Parica (badly) at the Reno Open. Go look at the results from the VNEA championships for the last five years, see what I mean?
 
Tyler Edey is definetly a great player. He won our last tournament in Kelowna. It was kinda funny, there was a bunch of people watching the finals, against Charlie Brown, and everytime we (the railbirds) were discussing situations where a safety seemed inevitable, he would play some crazy kick or bank and keep going. He amazed alotta people in Kelowna. We didn't know much about him till he came and took our prize money!!

Mmmm - I could tell stories about the little gu when he was eight or nine..... I guess you could say I'm a little biased when it comes to this particular discussion.

I lived in London for 8 months (45 min west of T.O.) and travelled to the big city quite often for weekends.

However I'm still destined to build igloos up here ;-)

I'm patenting heated slates (To prevent ice formation on cloth).
