Im about to purcase a new cue, and locking for a players cue. Have askt around and heard allot of good things about Omen cues, how about Capone cue they really look nice how do they play??? Im allso thinking about BCM, Gilbert and Carmeli. Im living in Sweden and have no posibility to try out thise cues, so i need good dedscriptions on quallity, workmanship and playebility.

Capones look good but Omens play better as a general rule only IMO.i have had 3 Caones and all 3 had what i would consider low grade shaft wood.played with 4-5 Omens and all were good players with good shaftwood.out of all the cues you listed i would get the Gilbert or the Omen second.

Try a Lebow

Hej! I have tried a Capone and BCM out of the ones you mention. The Capone is good, but I find the BCM to have a more solid hit. If you can wait a bit, I would highly recommend Sheldon Lebow. His workmanship is absolutely stellar and his cues have the best hit of any cue I've ever tried.

i have a gilbert that i can't say enough good things about. you looking to get one right now right now? or ordering and waiting? you could also check out Ronnie Powell

www.queperfect.biz he hooked me up with a sweet playing cue too ( they're on the high cost end though)

All of the cue's you mentioned are fine specimens. You can't go wrong with any of them.

I like an omen if you can get a steel joint they play better than the phenolic.

Capone all the way...

I have dozens of very high end cues and none of them play like my capone. I had him fit my cue with a predator shaft and couldn't be happier. His work is very clean and makes a great cue for the money. All of his regular shafts played very nice as well...I've only had positive experiences with Mike. He does some of the best leather and lizard wraps I have ever seen as well! I also feel his quailty repair work is second none. He may act cocky at times but he has alwayed backed it up imo...

I have hit with all of the ones you mention. I would rank them: Capone, Omen, Gilbert, BCM, Carmeli.

What does that thread prove?

Egon, you might want to read this before you order from Capone. Especially you that far away.

That thread means nothing...sounds like a bunch of rumors to me. I have a 59 inch Capone for sale right now. It's ready to ship anytime and anywhere in the world if you don't want to order one direct. Plus, I think Indy Q has Capones cue ready to go as well...

Capone

I am not sure what your looking for as far as feel, but I own both an Omen and a Capone, and while they both are great cues I prefer to play with the Capone. It provides a firm, crisp hit, with great response upon the delivery of the stroke. I also had Mike fit a Predator shaft to it but have been playing lately with an OB1 shaft. So many options... you really can't go wrong with any of the makers you listed. I have a Gilbert J/B that goes with me everywhere!

not to knock down his reputation, but I've had a not too good experience with Capone, where he did say the cue was good to go as soon as he received my payment. unfortunately he sent it only another 3 months later.

i did see a capone with very similar specifications on indyq straight after i sent payment and received no further word from capone.

also have many friends who have ordered a cue from him but have not heard back from him since.

lastly, i guess the "hit" is a personal thing, but i'm more used to ss-jointed cues, so the ivory sleeved capone i had hit real soft to me. was particularly impressed by his work (which i thot was flawless) but not so impressed by the "hit".

good luck with your search!

Thanks

Thank you for all the feedback, this will help me to choose the right one in the end!

Thanks again!!!:D

I'm in the same boat. Never see the cue nor my money.:(

I own two Capone cues and I could not be anymore happy with them. Mikes leather wraps are perfect and his spliced points are nearly if not flawless.Mikes points are very sharp and with no glue lines. All of the cuemakers you mentioned make fine cues but I feel Mike Capone cues are on a different level. Also if you ever decided to sell it I think Capone cues hold thier value a lil better than other cues you mentioned. I also own 3 Gilberts and feel that Andys cues are really a great cue for the money. I have hit with a Omen cue and I liked the way it played.

It does???

This thread is a perfect example of why hit is subjective as there seems to varying opinions.

Myself, I'm with Masonh. I love the workmanship of Capone but it's medium hitting cue (I had ivory sleeved cue) whereas I find Omen to be more harder and stiffer hitting cue. YMMV.
