Having watched quite alot of Sigel's matches from his prime and watching his matches since the comeback one thing is for certain. Mike the Mouth sucks.

What I mean by this is that since the comeback Sigel seems more concerned about yapping his way through the whole match then shooting pool. This is NOT how he used to shoot. He would make the odd comment back in his prime, but for the most part he was silent and just shot pool. And he shot it well.

If you notice since the comeback every time Sigel starts to yap he starts to miss. In the second set against Reyes when Sigel finally started to show his old speed he stopped being "Mike the Mouth". He shut his pie hole and he just shot pool, and he started running racks, Captain Hook was back, but it was way too late by that point to even think about beating a man like Reyes. He needed to come right out of the gates as Captain Hook to have a chance, and instead Mike the Mouth spotted Reyes 12 straight games and left Captain Hook in a spot no man can come out of.

If Sigel wants to succeed on his comeback he needs to stop worrying about all the talking during the match. It is NOT his natural way of playing, it is NOT the way he used to play, and when he starts yacking he cannot keep his concentration where it needs to be, on the table. He shot a whole lot better once he shut up and started playing in relative silence like he used to back before he quit.

It is clear he does the talking trying to drum up interest in the sport, but if he continues chatting like he was he will be doing all his talking from the commentary booth because the man cannot chat away like he did in the first set in the king of the hill or his sets against Loree Jon and compete at the level he needs to be a threat in these events.

If Sigel reads this, worry more about shooting strong pool then acting out your "Mike the Mouth" character.

I saw him on TV with the IPT when he play Lorie, he missed shot I could make. If anyone know Mike personally I would like to Play him in a Race to "9" 8 or 9 Ball for $.25....

I too know Mike and have been at many of his matches back in the day. Your right he didn't talk that much. Johnnyt

Sigel was known in his prime for finding a "Yes Man" during every match. It's someone he always chatters to while he is playing. I have seen 7 tapes of Sigel in or near his prime, and he does talk. Just not as much as he does now. But he did talk often IN BETWEEN games, usually not during them.
