Care for my case. Please help

I recently bought an It's George case. I really like it. Like the look and style really everything about it. I take care of my cues and cases. I noticed the other day that only shortly after a month of use that my case is showing wear... The bottom corners of the pockets are wore already.

The case sat for many years unnoticed in a local sports store. How long I am unsure of. Is there something that I can apply to the case to soften the leather for better durability. The case is black monitor lizard. Any suggestions please respond.

I really like the case and it makes me sick or see wear marks on it. I'd sooner it be for storage if there is nothing that can be done. Would hate to see it just sit as well. Thanks

Or, if you don't want to wait for it through Amazon or whatever, you can run up to your local auto parts store and pick up some Lexol cleaner, and conditioner. Two separate spray bottles, the cleaner is in a yellow bottle and the conditioner is in a brown bottle. Use a soft sponge or soft clean towel (old tee shirt) and lather with the cleaner, this will get grit and dirt and dust off of your leather. Wipe this off with a clean, damp towel. Pat dry, and then use the conditioner. Use several applications and apply only a little at a time. Rub it in well and let it dry.

When you are done with that, you can finish with a neutral colored hard paste wax, that is composed primarily of carnauba. Get a strip of an old tee shirt and a horsehair brush, some ice water, and borrow and old nylon. I like Kiwi neutral, or Mother's pure carnauba (not a cleaner wax) or Renaissance wax. Get a little bit on the tee shirt wrapped around your fingers, put a drop of the ice water in the wax tin, swirl the cloth in it and apply with light pressure in small circles. Use only a very little amount per coat, there should appear to be no buildup on the cloth. Let that dry- you'll see it haze. Then take a drop of ice water and put in on the case where you applied the wax and brush off with the brush. Finish with a buff with the nylon. Repeat for about 6-12 coats and you'll have it looking like new.

I understand the feeling, but it isn't hard to deal with. I am confident you will have it looking great again and be able to keep it looking great with proper care.

I have cleaned up some pretty beat up old cases and had them looking virtually new again. Fortunately yours in black, I think that's the easiest to deal with.

Fiebings leather balm. I do a little leather work as a hobby making holsters and love the results I've gotten from this product. Great for the pockets on Diamond tables as well:).

PS- I would encourage you to go to your local leather/Shoe repair shop to get a professional opinion bbefore going the cleaning and repolishing route. It sounds like you have a unique material that may require different steps.

i love beat-up quality cases.

i would never carry a new justis, for example.

different strokes for different folks, i guess.

You would be amazed at how tough leather is, but over time it does dry out, scuff up and become brittle. You can condition the leather with many products. To cosmetically repair it, I prefer black leather dye, which is available everywhere. You can also burnish the leather smooth or even sand it smooth with a fine paper before dying.

For tough jobs, I took my leather cases to a shoe repair guy and he basically had them looking like new in no time. They can match the dyes and finish pretty well.
