Shooters is a nice room, but if you are in Cary, check out Babineau's on Buck Jones Road. One of the nicest rooms in NC!

I have to second that, Babineau's is a great place to play. I play there at least 3 times a week. Good tables and good people. they are hosting the qualifier for the amateur us open on the weekend of the 23. lots of league play during the week.

I believe you're thinking of Hot Shots, in MacGregor Village. I wouldn't say that's one of the better rooms in the Raleigh/Cary area. If you can, shoot up a few more exits up US-1 North to check out Babineau's.

I'm not sure what the last part of your post is about. I have spent many hours sitting around and having some very interesting conversations with Paul. He is a great guy, loves the game of pool, and is very supportive of leagues, tournaments, etc. Always sponsoring players to the major events. The pool world would do very well with a few more Paul Babineaus.

He is a great guy, loves the game of pool, and is very supportive of leagues, tournaments, etc. Always sponsoring players to the major events. Steve, I couldn't agree with you more. Paul is sponsoring not one, not two, but three players for the US Open this year, and he sponsored Sam Monday for the IPT event in Las Vegas. Paul can be ascerbic (who can't?), but for the most part, I think he's a great guy and a great room owner.

I understand the team that won the Masters championship at the APA in Vegas plays out of his room. Robert Ray, Johnny Griffin, and Jimmy Faircloth......that is one heck of a team!

If by interactions you mean don't get caught disrespecting his business you're probably right. Otherwise the owner goes out of his way to enjoy his patrons. I've known Paul long enough to know his brusque exterior hides a soft heart. There's nothing he loves more than great pool and goes out of his way to provide it. The only problem for Banger McCue might be if he's only in town for Tuesday night as there are 2 leagues and only 4 open tables from 7pm to about 10:30pm so he might get waitlisted.

Yup, that was them. They have a great team, but Johnny did an especially fantastic job leading off every match and taking pressure off Robert and Jimmy. If Johnny hadn't beaten Kirkwood in the finals like he did, the outcome probably would've been a lot different.

Babineau's also had another Masters team place fifth. Let's see, who was it again? I can't remember.... Oh yeah, that was my team!

Aren't you supposed to be moving to Raleigh soon?

I'm not sure about the move now. May be staying in Charlotte for a while. I've sent some info to some of the rooms up that way about possibly hosting a Viking tour stop. Since I've joined Mike in doing some of the events in this area, I do hope to get up there in the near future.
