i i own several items made from buffalo hide..i purchased an Instroke Buffalo case when they came out..it's about as durable a case as you can find...buffalo always costs slightly more than cow leather...why? because there are alot more cows around than buffalo...the buffalo case brand new will look suede like..after a year or so it ages and it will take on a slicker loook..this is the patina it gets as it ages it looks old..i like this antique/patina/look but alot of peope may not understand the aging process of it and think it will look suede like forever...with this in mind there should be no disappointments..the buffalo case will last a life time..one thing to remember ..the plains indians in South Dakota ect.relied on the buffalo for about everything in their life ...also their teepees were of buffalo hide not cow hide...this should say something of durability...
 
so I heard that the justis 3x6 is a heavy case and now I hear this(instoke 3x5 is a heavy case also, so how is the whitten case compared to these in weight !

Also heavy. I have a Whitten 2x4 and it's just as heavy, or close, as my Instroke and my Flowers. The cheaper cases are the way to go....imo. They are durable enough, have bigger pockets, I don't mind if I hurt them, they don't draw the attention of a thief and on and on.

I like lots of pockets. I took a Silver Fox BR-2 4x8 semi-hard case, took out the cue sleeves, added hard case tubes and now I have twice the pocket space of a Justis or Instroke with less weight.

The Whitten has the most pocket space of the heavy premium cases and is a very classy looking case but man ya gotta love the beauty of the Justis and I have an Instroke Buffalo 3x7 that is great but has very little pocket space.

I've accumulate about 15 cases in my search for the best and I like the Silver Fox combo I mentioned above.
 
I prefer porper cases. Ultra light (comparatively)<most important to me>, much cheaper than above mentioned cases, and they protect my cues well enough. Granted, I don't have a $5000 hercek or anything, maybe if I did I would look into something that I could drive drive my truck over.............

BTW- I have an instroke 3x7 that I only use for storage now 'cause it's just too dam heavy.

I think one of the best Cases for the $$$ is a the Action 3x5 costs about 80$


Althought the other day when i was heading to the pool hall, the billiards store downstairs, had a 3butt 6shaft case for 150$, i think i might hafta pick that one up. And if i dont, i am grabbing me that Action case for 80$.


I have a Instroke 2x3 that i got for free when i traded my motorcycle( which needed some work ) for a Meucci Original that came with 2 shafts. which i thought was a pretty decent trade off. I like the Instroke case, but am in need of a case that i can carry my other Meucci in too.
 
Personally I would go with the Buffalo, just a more classy look. I'm not crazy about the colors on that particular saddle series case...

Best value and best protection hands down (imho of course): Instroke Premier (black vinyl, but looks pretty damn good).

I think I might wait for the show(super billiards) or try and get the buffalo that I mentioned 3x5 off ebay

it can't be that bad (heavey)since I always drive up to a poolroom.

The Instroke has the most functional pocket design. For tube cases the Instroke will likely be the lightest, weighing in at about 7-8lbs for the Buffalo. The weight never bothered me because of the fact that I planned to go from the car to the poolroom.

If I had to lug my cues around all day then I want a lighter case. Fortunately for me, I don't have to have my cues with me all the time at a tournament. I find a pool table, throw my stuff under it and go have a good time. In Vegas I find a place to store them - at the Cue Guard (a hat check for cues) or in my booth.

If you want class and performance then the Instroke Buffalo is a wise choice. The Whitten is also a good choice for simple elegance. Jack Justis will make a nice, tasteful individual case.

After 15 years I have come full circle. I started with a Porper, made Instroke and right now I am using a 4x8 Porper. I like the leather on it, I like the weight, I hate the way the cues dissapear below the rim of the holes. It's a really stupid design. I will fix it when I have time and inclination. I also use a case of my own design which is a 3x7 butterfly design with rubber sport grips and a shoulder strap that splits to make a backpack strap.
