Case Question

Being a truck and jeep guy, I like all kinds of metal hardware. Well, that carries over into my pool addiction. Since I've been playing, I've always had what I consider to be a good looking, aluminum style box case. I just like it and think it looks cool, and it's tough and protects my cues.

Anyway, I notice that I am only one of maybe two or three other people that I ever see that have these. In looking at some of the online places, they don't carry many, and most people here seem to collect leather or specialty cases.

So, I guess my questions is, am I a pool dork? :D What cases do you use and why?

Thanks,

Jason

Nothing wrong with having a case to suit your needs... Id own one but I need a 3x6 and Im pretty sure even being made out of Alum it would be heavy and cumbersome, a 1x1 or a 1x2, would be ok, possibly even a 2x2 but I couldnt see anything much larger..

Not at all...To be a pool dork you must also have an aluminum cue.

Budweiser cue + box case = hustler equipment

Great comment.

As for your question, I think most of this boils down to the fact that most serious players carry at least two cues, some three with multiple shafts.

I have not seen any aluminum or other metal cases that are not luggage style cases, but most players prefer the tube style cases (Instroke, Whitten, Thomas, Giuseppi, etc.) for size and weight. I don't see anything wrong with either, but prefer the tube style myself. Also, the aluminum cases are a bit flashy and draw attention to you when you walk into a pool hall with one.

Structurally, the Zero Halliburton cases are hard to beat no matter what you compare them to.

To clarify....

My aluminum case is pretty cool....stash for chalk and stuff....it's a 2x4...carry my J/B cue w one shaft, and my playing cue, 2 shafts....

Keep it coming....curious about the budwieser cue being that of a husler, heard that a couple times before, sounds like a wives tale :D

I like hand made leather cases, with Justis being my personal preference. Why..... IMO they are the nicest looking, well made case out there right now.
If you like the look and feel of aluminum cases, consider a Zero Halliburton. ;)

Dude! Your joint protectors are giving you away! You gotta cover them with duct tape at least!

You also need to add a price tag sticker (partially scratched off) on the butt or bumper of the cue.

Back to "Road School" for you!

Did you ever watch Sienfeld? Remember the "Festivus Pole" LOL

That is what that cue reminds me of.:D

For a 30 dollar Wal Mart cue, it shoots pretty damn good.

I suppose ....

they are okay. Back in the 50's-60's, the box style was pretty popular, mainly because the craft was not very advanced at that time, and several pros had a suitcase style, including Willie Mosconi.

Times change, other types of cases developed and became popular, and now, how many real good players do you see with a suitcase style case? So, yeah, they always look like a newbie or a dork nowdays or someone that can't tell a joke right!!!
