Cases in Progress

Sig line

My sig line is in no way a slam on anyone. It's simply a statement on the way we do business. You should try to come up with one of your own instead of the repetitive oversize photos of cases your trying to sell with every post.

John

I like cases by you, I also like cases by Jack.

The only thing I would add is if I were you....I would personally hire someone to take orders for you. Someone who speaks and types English and who has the time to reply and get the order in.

You do get wrapped up in a lot of peripheral stuff and that takes time away from your day job. If you can't respond to an email or take an order or take half an order......get someone in the company to do it for you. I realise you like to be hands on but it's no good firing off loads of emails at the start only to lose interest or forget 6 months down the line. Of all the people that should be able to communicate with you to get a case, I think I would be up there. Our original case would have stopped the world in it's tracks, it didn't happen. My current case was ordered through DJay. I persevered because you make a great product.

So bottom line, I think you should stop taking orders personally and get someone in to do it for you. Maybe that way, the process could speed up a little.

We have known each other quite a while now, I hope you take what I say with the honesty I mean it....from one friend to another.

Si

Well said, Simon.

John has said in the past that he does not like anyone telling him how to run his business so I don't know how he will take your good advice

i just ordered one of his nylon cases with some added features and everything went through Karen. She had sketches made up and replied to my emails in a timely manner.

No offense, but I would disagree. Although I wouldn't tell you to change it. It makes since to put that in your sig. You SHOULD market your product like that. It's important to emphasize this. I certainly would do the same. When I promote for Keith Kues, I make sure to mention that it's all made by hand with NO CNC or panto-graphs. It only makes since to draw the contrast.

I would go as far to say, that you shouldn't make a passive aggressive swipe, you should take claim of it, and shine a light on it. When JB says, "this is a blatant shot at us." You should fire back, "Damn right, it is!"

I would still order a JB case, over your's because I like his product better. (I'm thinking butterfly or mason case + ultra pad, which you don't offer) That's not to say you are not a good maker, nor are you over priced. I just prefer something different.

just my little $.02 from the cheap seats,

Justin

I am open to all advice. I am working on your short order ticket advice that you gave us at one time.

The one thing I don't want to do is limit the options we offer so it is a bit hard to apply your method.

But essentially you are right.

Certainly. And it is an important statement to make. Hopefully at some point we can add a similar statement to our advertising.

We do have a statement though about how we do business.

If we ever couple that with On Time Delivery we will be rocking.

I know. I think that this coming year will be the one where it all comes together.

I understand everything you said and am working on it.

Thank you for taking the time to help me. I owe you.

IF is the key word....just do it instead of talking about it.

Ultimate Protection - Unlimited Choice is great but first you have do it in a timely manner. TCB first and then post your heart out.

I cannot justify doing prototype "one in a lifetime" options when I have prepaid orders waiting to be built. Understandly you are able to do this with Chinese labor and I envy you in this regard.

Since our customer base is entirely different, we do not consider you as competition as long as we keep getting orders. When we do get that oddball request, I usually just refer them to you. By the way, I am not beyond accepting a little jelly in return should you so desire.:wink:Good Nite, John.

I wouldn't say that our customer base is so different but the way we go about our business certainly is. I fully agree with you about TCB.

So for me the goal is to figure out how to build a shop capable of producing the once-in-lifetime requests in a systematic manner. Trust me Jack I have held you up to my staff dozens of times and said to them that this "old" man working from his house all by himself outproduces us. I truly admire the fact that you have set up your shop efficiently and can run through your orders on time.

When I got into this over here I thought it would be easy. But it's not easy, not at all. The language barrier is tough, dealing with 15 individuals and their issues is tough, there is very little to no common ground on common sense between westerners and Chinese.

Every time I try to implement some kind of order it gets corrupted. Now quite possibly the source of the problems is the leader :-)

I look at this as a challenge though. So now I have the shop that can turn out the true custom cases so now I have to figure out how to run it. It's like getting a racehorse that's too wild to ride. But my goal is to put up a signature like yours, on time every time.

And yes, I do thank you for sending people to us and I owe you you some jelly and peanut butter as well.

So thank you!

Nice cases

John I like the thread its great seeing all the cases in progress and I think you are doing a great job and are second to none in the custom cue case business. The finished product speaks for itself. I have a few cases and yours by far are the best when it comes to protection and craftsmanship. No ones perfect John so enjoy your family and keep plugging along getting them done as best you can as when the mailman shows up at your customers door theres a smile everytime weather the cue is delivered on the projected due date a bit later....... Life is short enjoy the family:smile:

John, can you fit two of the large pockets on e.g. a 3x6 nylon basic rugged case (= my favourite everyday case)? Can never seem to have too much storage space…

Greetings from Switzerland, David.
