Cataracts

I have a cataract developing in my right eye for the last couple of years. It's not severe enough to be covered by insurance. This past year my right eye prescription changed twice. Last season was my worst showing, losing 11-3, and dropping down 1 level. Players that I used to give two balls handicap were now beating me on a regular basis. I now pay more attention on getting shape, than making shots.

HELP??? All of a sudden my display font in reading posts has switched to a small font.

Any idea how I can adjust the size of my display font? It's not solely on this thread. I now feel like my cataracts have returned.

I went to my CP and Edit Options, but couldn't find anything pertinent.

Thanks for any assistance, guys...

If you are on a PC, try holding down the Ctrl key and pressing the key next to Backspace (the + or = key). To decrease the size, hold down Ctrl and press the _ or - key (next one to the left of + or = key).

Thanks a million!!! :D

Can you find out what the doctors installed? Traditional cataract lens replacement is monofocus. Meaning the lens is set for one distance (reading, normal and distance). So, you may have end up wearing glasses (reading). Mult-focus is a new type of lens, but are not normally insured as its considered 'elective'.

We have several players in the Tulsa area that have had surgery for cataracts & are very pleased about their outcome.

Cataracts aside, wouldn't contact lenses provide the best overall field of vision? I've been thinking about frames that would ride really high on my face, but I'm sure my wife and daughter would think I looked like a jerk.

When I get a new RX, I opt for every add on they offer; anti glare, transitions, etc. and usually run up a $500 bill. Given that, I certainly couldn't afford two pair of glasses; one normal and one exclusively for pool.

Thoughts???

As for the weed reference... I think the jokers are confusing glaucoma and cataracts.

As for cataract surgery. I had the procedure on my dominant eye about two years ago.
Nothing bad to say... I see the balls more clearly with just about 20/20.
I'm having my other eye done in a few weeks and will have it corrected for reading....
this approach is called mono vision. I'll only use glasses for driving at night, most likely.

You may want to take a look at this current related thread:

Good Luck,

many peoples eyes dont adapt to the multi focal or monovision lenses then are basically stuck with not so good vision.
get the distance lenses and wear your reading glasses for close things. once you get rid of the cataracts your close vision will be better as well as it wont be cloudy anymore but clear.

Yes, just like playing in league pool, if you're an APA SL 6 or lower playing in league would meet your needs. Same with contacts. Most people only need a moderate level of correction (-6 diopter), and contacts works. When you start needing higher levels of correction, and throwing more than mild astigmatism then you're stuck with glasses like me. Now that I'm middle age, I now need glasses for reading as well.

For higher prescriptions such as mine, opticians suggest contacts for myopia but I still need glasses to wear glasses for astigmatism, as there is no single contact lens that corrects both at the power level I require.

I've been wearing corrective lenses for 42 years, and I'm always on the look out to improve my vision. So, I'm the kind of guy that checks out every new technology. Like the training aids for pool, I usually get all excited until I realize it only fix/aid beginner players. Meaning it may work for the majority out there, just not me.

For my reading/computer glasses I re-used existing frames to save on costs.
