Ive been playing for 25 years and always aimed by feel until yesterday. I decided to look into this. I watched this video for free on YouTube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ij38hYBti4c&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Turns out this is a friend of mine. I had no idea he did this but I do know he is a hell of a player and has spent a lot on lessons.
With in an hour using this method became 2nd nature and I almost felt like it was cheating. I don't have the best eyes any more but you barely need to aim. At the end of the day I was aiming c to e then after pivoting back to center....closing my eyes and firing and the ball was hitting the back of the pocket every time. It works...period. I don't know why and frankly don't care.

Heres the thing... If you don't have solid fundamentals this nor will anything like this work. You also of course have to make adjustments when you apply English. I remember last year watching the gentlemen who teaches for predator talking about how systems help you play under pressure. That the average guy who plays by feel Will be in trouble when the cheese is on the line. When that adrenaline gets flowing and the preasue is on it's tough to clear your head and still let nature take it's course. Systems allow the average guy to push through the haze and still succeed.

Spidey is a friend and your just finding out about this, lol.

If you have nothing to prove then WHY are you such an asshole when it come to the CTE threads? Why does it bother you so much that you have to post major drivel that has nothing to do with the topic.

As for your "reference" diagramming, if you can't take the care to set the balls up on a diagram so that they go then how are we to trust that you can do anything on the real pool table that you claim to. And if you did make the shot then you got lucky, so what. I will STILL give you action even if it's set up to be a perfect dead easy carom. Because I don't believe that you can play dead much less run a rack.

So if you want to get a video camera and mark the positions you can shoot this shot for $100 a shot and we can see how well you do.

The point however that you DON'T get is that ANY PLAYER can fall back on Ghost Ball or any other variable of the phantom ball vector system to measure caroms or any other shot.

You think you are some sort of Ghost Ball god but in fact you're just a no-name nobody hack like the rest of us. The difference between us is that we are exploring different ways to play.

I find it absolutely HILARIOUS that you have a quote from Bruce Lee in your signature that says take what works and leave the rest.

Bruce Lee would beat you into the concrete if you came to his dojo and suggested that any other form of martial arts was absolutely of no use and that only one other form was valid. He would have told you that you can learn SOMETHING from every form of fighting and that you should take what you can from every form and mold it into your own.

It's sad to me that someone who would quote Bruce Lee doesn't appear to understand even the most basic teaching and philosophy that Bruce promoted.

What would be funny is to see you get your nuts shot off by someone who uses CTE. I bet you would feel smaller than a BB when the CTE user came up against a kick shot, a carom or a bank and made it easily using Ghost Ball or whatever other method they knew of to shoot the shot.

Anyway until I see an actual video of you making more than three balls in a row I will consider you to be nothing more than a lying troll who is hanging from a dead players nuts.

Because you know that if you started a thread about the "Arrow" then it would get about three responses and die. But any thread about CTE get thousands of views and that's the ONLY way you can promote your pet training aid.

And OF COURSE it works - it's an ARROW stupid, duh. I can make a lot of "training aids" on my laser cutter.

But oh gee, guess what, I don't need any of them now because I have a way to use THE ACTUAL BALLS to aim. And when I practice and I want to shoot a lot of shots at different angles from the same cueball position I don't need to go over and MOVE a piece of paper to tell me where to hit the object ball on each shot.

No, I simply MOVE the object ball and apply the system and voila' a shot line appears...... isn't that great???

From straight in to 90 degrees with any distance between the balls - I don't need to use an arrow, chalk lines, lasers, ghost ball trainers, or any foreign device. I use my brain and the existing objects used to play the game.

And the best part - if I happen to be in a game and a shot comes up that I have never shot before - like this one which came up last night - where I shot the 2 ball in the upper right pocket - I can do it with confidence because I have a system that is with me on EVERY SHOT on every table.

Ok JB CASES calls this poster an Asshole, a liar, stupid, etc and of course the obligatory JB CASES challenge to play for money to prove his point. Most of this is against forum rules except that this guy is apparently a favorite AZforums son. Some things and people never change.

Quit stalking JB Cases. It's getting old.

You know, I don't mean to be persnickety but you seem to stalk JB Cases everywhere he goes in this forum.

JB Cases gets on here, talks about his pool game, makes videos of his pool game, shares it with the rest of AZ Billiards, talks about cases when people ask, talks about pool non-stop and in general is always making a valuable contribution to the pool forum.

You on the other hand seems to always just enjoy trying to find fault with others, seldom if ever, share any information about playing pool that might help another person improve their game.

JB cases has a right to defend himself against those who try to push his buttons, JUST LIKE YOU ARE DOING NOW.

Well typically Joey you see only what you want to see.

If you don't have buttons, there's nothing to push. A person behavior is their sole responisiblty and no one else. Some people just like to point and say "He made me do it".

See, I was the challenged party and I posted a two ball carom I did. I was called out and provide a shot I did and just asked for others to do it. My bad maybe in that I did not place the balls right at the exact spots but they are close enough to get the idea and the size of the table and pockets does matter.

What is really the beauty about that shot was that it was not setup. I had just put out 15 balls for a practice session. I was using the restriction where I had to do a bank, carom and combo. So, out of those 15 balls on the table, I noticed the two balls were set up perfect for me to carom a ball off of them into the side. I saw the shot and did it. To which I kept running balls using a bank, carom or combo or a mix of the three.

It kinda like, when in straight pool, there is one corner of the rack opened toward a pocket but the cue ball is on the wrong side of the rack. But, as you study the rack, you see it, that one ball that is seems to be buried but because of your experince you can see that if you hit here with a certain speed, that one ball will come out of the rack into the pocket.

That shot was the same thing.

My practice sessions seem to be on a whole different level than most on here.

Oh and this is the topper. To diss the arrow because you can not use it during real play and then sell a cue with a laser tip as stroke trainer. I sure hope that you use that laser tip cue playing real matches cause if you don't, based on your opinion of the arrow, then that laser tip stroke trainer is useless also.

There have been enough post about the DVD that backs up my statement that CTE is too hard to learn, may require further lessons, and will not work on all shot. I've never said it didn't work, just that it is not worth learning due to those three factors.

I also find it interesting that I have been told by JB that my opinion is useless, that its not worth reading and that he put on ignore. Once again, put me on ignore as you have stated before. To say you put me on ignore and then respond to one of my post seems as if you do not tell the truth.

Defend this jerk all you want,,,,,,,,

Duckie, your explanation seems plausible that your table layout didn't show the balls in their exact positions. I can buy that. It seemed overly harsh that so many mouths jumped on you for that inexactitude.
And joeyA, you are defending statements like this?: "Anyway until I see an actual video of you making more than three balls in a row I will consider you to be nothing more than a lying troll who is hanging from a dead players nuts." (Quoted from above JB Case post). It seems to me you consistently side with celebrity rather than merit. Get a grip!

Good post, IMO, Duckie!

The advantage to practcing banks, carom and combo is the added depth in shot selection it gives you.

For example, I got left this in a 9 ball game:

CueTable Help

My concern with cutting the 5 was how well I could control the CB to get on the 6.

What I did was bank the 5 back into the 8 and this was what I was left with from which I ran out from. The biggest reason for this was that CB placement after the shot was easier to control. From this position, I just slowed rolled down to the 5, on and back off the rail for the 6.

CueTable Help

I had no qualms about doing the bank carom, cause that is one type shot I practice with regularity.

Generally, when two people are having needle contests, I just don't pay much attention to contestants. It's when I see one person who singles out another and continues to badger that person at every turn that I mention the misdeeds. I also don't appreciate a small group of people attacking another person or group of people with unceasing fervor simply because they aren't here to defend themselves or that they just won't lay down in the mud with the pigs.

I'm not the policeman of AZBilliards and I'm no better than the next poster.

I don't mind two people having a heated "discussion" as long as it doesn't become a fixation or a witch hunt by a group of misguided vigilantes. Everyone lets off a little steam every now and then.

I've even defended Patrick Johnson because in spite of some of his despicable remarks and condemnation of some of the fellow posters, Patrick contributed greatly to this forum.

I do believe that a posters overall value carries weight in this forum, although sometimes it is not enough to keep them from being banned.

To me, it seems as though you are indeed following JB's posts, waiting to pounce when he gets excitable in a post. And he does get excitable, as belies his passion about pool. You two have had a distinct pi$$ing match for longer than I've been here, and this is no different.

I take no sides in this. I've read plenty about what has gone on between you two, and only you two really know the truth. That truly does not concern the other 35,000 or so members of this forum. I do, however, find it interesting that the few times I see you comment here it is usually in reaction to something that JB has posted. Rarely do I see you add to the conversation in any thread. Just my observations...

If you sincerely have a problem with JB's post, in this instance, click on the report button and voice your displeasure, and the reason for it, to the only people entitled to police this site. Otherwise... you make yourself out to be what many here perceive, someone fixated on having arguments with JB. It certainly doesn't advance the conversation in this thread. Which, I believe, is the point.

Yeah you have the same sad story Joey every time. Please go to JB Cases' post and see how to use the Super Ignore. Please add me to your list. And save us the ALL CAPS,
BIG FONT, multi-colored rants.

Well, I just got back from a great session playing pool. Ended up $900 winner. Thanks CTE. I can't even begin to diagram all the great shots I made. CTE plus a good solid stroke - THE ABSOLUTE NUTS as far as I am concerned.

It's so hard to explain to those who don't know what an unbelievably great feeling it is to play to your potential.

As far as people who jump in these CTE threads attempting to ruin that joy I say it's their loss.

@ Duckie, the Laser Cue helps people to see how wobbly their stroke is, it helps to see tangent lines, and most of all it's just a nice neat gadget.

I am not DISSING the Arrow. You can make something similar from any business card. All of the Ghost Ball trainers work. I am dissing YOU constantly getting in these threads and telling people that all they need is the Arrow. If that was truly all people needed, some kind of Ghost Ball trainer which is what the Arrow is, then CTE wouldn't exist because everyone would already be world beaters.

Obviously Hal's aiming systems found resonance with a lot of folks because it filled a void. Tonight I spent about $80 on pool time and about $10 on soft drinks at the pool room. I am having fun playing pool again. Why is it so hard for you to understand that PEOPLE enjoy making balls and whenever they find any sort of thing that helps them to do that then they play more? Is this concept something you really can't get?

Why is it SO HARD for you to just let it go? Ok so you don't like any kind of aiming system other than the Ghost Ball. Great. Then do your thing and make yourself into a great player using your arrow. Many others have done so already.

Why do you have to be a jerk and jump in and try to spoil the fun for others?

What would you do if you were at the pool room explaining the virtues of the arrow to a group of people and I butted in and put you down and put the arrow down and said all you need is CTE?????? Wouldn't you consider it pretty rude if I did that to you?

What would you do? Would you start setting up a bunch of caroms and challenge me to use CTE to make them? What if I said to you that I preferred to use the Arrow for those shots and CTE for all the shots where the ball is going directly to the hole?

Don't you get it that the Arrow and all these GB trainers, and GB itself is there any time someone WANTS to use it? We get it, we know all about the arrow and all the other GB trainers out there. We are exploring something else and finding it to have a lot of merit and be a lot of fun at the same time.

Why don't you just go away and let the CTE people have their fun. What's the worst that can happen? They try it and spend a bunch of money at the pool room practicing it and find out it doesn't work and go back to GB?

What's the best that can happen? They try it and find that it works and end up playing a lot more pool and pouring more money into the industry. Maybe some of these CTE users start going to bigger tournaments, maybe they decide that they are good enough to try playing in Vegas etc....

@Mlalum - Do you have anything to contribute to the topic? I didn't think so as ususal. Did you get any bets down on the DCC matches? I know how you like to be a hypocrite about these things, you know by saying gambling is bad for pool and then running to every stream and betting on matches. How can we play some one pocket? Loser leaves the forums forever? Wait I have a better idea, not only does the loser leave the forum forever but if you lose you have to do an audiobook of your children's book Song for a Giraffe. You know the one that is about everyone being special and accepting people as they are? Do you really believe that or were you just writing what you thought children need to hear while trying to cash in on the children's book market? I am just curious as practicing what you preach doesn't seem to be your strength. And how does lying about people fit into your sense of morality?

So to recap Michael, you have nothing to add to the topic. Your only reason for being hear is to whine, you are a lying hypocrite who contributes nothing positive to the forum or the sport. Is there any reason anyone should care about your opinion on anything?

CueTable Help

I had no qualms about doing the bank carom, cause that is one type shot I practice with regularity.

If you will shoot shots like the bank on the five for money then you can keep me broke. I would have shot the five in the corner and came around four rails to be under the six. At which point I would have shot it into the side or the corner or played safe.

Seriously, if you are the type of player who thinks banking the five into the eight here is good pool then I want to move where you live and play you every time you get paid.

But what I really don't get is why you seem to think that people who use CTE don't see these types of shots and why you seem to think that they can't execute them. What leads you to believe that I am any less "creative" than you when I play pool?

Because I use CTE? So you think that automatically means I can't bank or play caroms and tickies? Do you think I have never practiced those aspects of the game?

Do you think you are the ONLY person in the world who has ever practiced caroms and combinations?

I used to practice running the table where I got a point ONLY when I caromed or combo'ed a ball in.

So to put it bluntly, I can do everything you can do and probably a lot more. I say this with confidence because I am open to learning new ways of doing things and you seem not to be.

JB Cases it's so disappointing to find out i'm not on your super ignore like you said. Darn it. I'm so surprised.

Oh, you're on it. I just happen to be using Google Chrome to browse and unfortunately I get to see your drivel.

Chrome is faster than Firefox and better for watching streams. So I have to kind of take the good with the bad when I want to watch streams and surf AZ at the same time. Of course I could have FF open to but I like to just have Chrome on when viewing the streams to cut down on the bandwidth.

Taking a moment's diversion to remind you that you are a lying hypocrite is ok though. I should say cyberstalking lying hypocrite.

See you soon in Sun City where we can discuss our love affair in person and you can profess your utter devotion to me face to face. I will bring a copy of Song for a Giraffe for you to sign for my daughter.

right JB Cases I'm sure that's what happened. But thanks for another one of your threats.

right JB Cases I'm sure that's what happened. But thanks for another one of your threats.

oh by the way jb cases. i know you can't see this because i'm on your super ignore but i really don't blame you for your behavior. It's those darn buttons that are the problem. You're not responsible. It's the buttons. That's what your buds on the forum say. Maybe you could get the buttons fixed.

right JB Cases I'm sure that's what happened. But thanks for another one of your threats.

Threat? Sorry am I the one stalking you? You said clearly that you would say anything to my face that you have said about me on the forum. I have friends who live near you so when I visit them I will give you the opportunity to say all that you want to.

Do you feel threatened? Is it because you have called me crazy and insane? I might feel a little uneasy too if I made a habit of inviting people I thought were crazy to converse with me after I insulted them, denigrated them, lied about them and stalked them. In some cultures those are serious insults that would get you very hurt or killed. Luckily for you though in our culture it's pretty much accepted that assholes like you are just insignificant blowhards and so your insults are not worth killing you over. I wouldn't try that in Afghanistan or some other place where men are particularly sensitive about being called crazy and lied about.

Now, again, do you have anything to offer about the topic or are you just here to stalk me?

At least Duckie has an opposing view. Why are you here?
