A question about the Stuff that's inside the metal pipe.
Bulk order CF shafts Only. Looked at em.
The interior fill. What is it?
Was very light in color.
Do all CF metal shafts have the same packing?
If not, what different liquids are used to fill the pipe.
I know, no matter How may years maple has sat the shafts still play perfect. Zamboti/Joss/McDermott etc.
Will a CF shaft packing material, last 50 yrs?
Doesn't feel like these cues will have any collectability, unless signed by a GOAT or winner of a major.

Thx, it did look like foam.
You said Most, then anyone know what the other CF pipe fillers are?

Anything that you want really. Pack it with Styrofoam, cut up cotton rags/cloth. Really anything. Now whether it sounds good or plays good is another topic. I filled one once with the expanding foam in a can from a hardware store. I thought it played like garbage, guy I sold it to thinks it the best thing he's ever hit with. This was a few years ago and he still shoots with it.

So where did you get your empty pipe blank?

Which Foam do the pros prefer?
I know they most always use sponsors cues$.

JW, I never heard of a pro or top player fill the cavity with your suggestion/Anything.

For a really sweet hit, fill them with cotton candy. Just keep your cue out of the heat!

Ok were going from Expoy tooooooooooooooooooooooo, cut up rags/cloth to cotton candy.
I guess I'll go ask a cuemaker that question.
Seems like TMI from the experts.

thx............

You should have researched ask the cuemaker in the first place. On April 24 the topic was discussed. More discussion on cf shafts such as glues and more posted in this section.

Thx R2.
That's too simple, not really.
I Search first.
I assumed when I posted in the cue makers section, it was going to be a cue maker.
Not.

This is why I had no idea you were a cuemaker.

Shaw made this quote, and the above post made me think of you in this way is all.
That's what Social Media is for ''to disrespect people''

To brag 40 yr man.
17-24 twice in the US Open
Won one major, coming from the losers side.
Lost another when on the Hill.

I'm an X pro, divorce, kids, college forced me to walk away 90's.... turn down my 3rd WPA invite to the Worlds, realized my kids are way more important than cotton candy.

What's your company name R2?

My initial reply was to jokers post. It was not intended for you. For years I have had that thought and couldn't resist posting. As I have enough maple to build a house, carbon fiber is not an option for me. Sorry you were offended. I have had the same experience when I post. Very seldom do I dare expose myself to the possibility.

Dude, calm down, don't be a troll, ask a question get an answer, go with it

You can buy pre filled blanks, maybe that's better to start off with?
Experimenting is part of the experience and I have seen production shafts that sell for $400 or more either with no filling at all or with foam matress pieces stuffed in there. I know makers who have used cotton balls, light woods like balsa, but 2 part foams is most popular. You have hard foams that tends to give a more "ping" sound or soft foams that gives a more muted sound, or you can combine them. Experiment and find a solution you are happy with.

Thx Kim.... it sounds like the mfg of finished cf shafts have two, or three or more Fillers, for the pipe?

Most just have one type of foam. What you don't want is to have have your filler, whatever it is, come loose/breakdown. You'd end up with a rattle that would be annoying as hell. AFAIK all cf cues have a filler of some type. Used to get the sound/tone correct as well as getting the weight high enough. You don't want a super-light shaft(less than about 3.6oz) they throw-off the cue balance.

Thx Zar, then when the pipe is filled Foam.... the heat, in your car, long term breakdown Will occur.
I say this about the material breakdown, because having run auto/truck service departments for years I've seen many failures due to age/heat/cold.
In my area, Sun is the most brutal, easily damaging man made materials, like a black car on a hot day, boiling the brake fluid moisture buildup, under the hood of a black car in the parking lot closed up all day, or you drive to work/park with a hot engine shut off and a black top parking lot.
It boils the moisture/water buildup in your break fluid that will cause a mushy break system (need to change it out, like oil but not as often).
Where I live, I can burn my feet on the concrete walking barefoot about noon in the dead of the summer.

CF shafts have been around quite a while now and i for one have not heard any reports of the fillers breaking down. Not saying its never going to happen but so far so good. I have heard of a rattling sound in one but it was due to abuse not play or storage.
