I have a GClll that I plan to move to another location after the winter and I was thinking of doing some cleanup when it comes apart. Can anyone tell me what the material and finish is on the caps and feet is? Being it is an old table they are worn and tarnished. I would love to have them back to factory. I have seen some powder coated ones but they don’t look that good to me. I was also wondering about replacing the pockets. They are fairly well banged up and I saw some knock offs on eBay and was wondering if they were any good?

Other than this the table is in nice shape and plays well.

I purchased it used about 1.5 years ago and had someone on here move it and set it up for me. I notice that I can now feel one of the seams between the slates and a slow ball will actually roll backwards when hitting it. I have it in a garage that gets down to 50 in the winter. Do you think this is the problem or was it just not done right?

I have a GC lll that I bought from the student union and the bright work was beat down. It was the bronze and I sent it out to a plating shop and had it all copper coated. I then had to brush it lightly with a scotch bright pad and spray it with many coats of urethane. That was ten years ago and the metal still looks just like the day I first did it. The factory finish is crap so don't strive for that. I agree the powder coating looks funky. I also went through some knock off pockets and they were a waste of sperm. The metal ring fell off the rubber on some of them where the allen bolt holds them in. They scuffed rubber on my cues and didn't fit worth a darn on the top facia. You didn't say if you had ball return or drop pocket but I have drop and bought some original GC lV pockets and they are the bomb. Hold 8 balls, don't burn on the top and fit like a glove. They still look like new after 7 years. Expensive ($160?) but worth every cent.

Thanks for the info. I do have drop pockets. Can I get the GC lV pockets from Brunswick or do I need to search for them.

The main reason a lot of people are getting their table castings powder coated
is cost. I wanted to get my GCII castings plated in copper and well that was an outrageous expense i couldn't justify this was two years ago and best price i found was in Tennessee, and it was $700, the other two bids i received were over a thousand for everything. that was the 6 pockets two bridge holders and the rack holder. If the powder coating is done right it looks almost as good as the copper, I did say almost. but the function is the same. here is a picture of antique copper powder coating I had done by http://abilenepowdercoating.com/contact.html I am very pleased with the look and feel of the finish.

If your wanting the table to look and play its best, ask for mechanic recommendations from the people here for your area, you won't be done wrong. believe me the few extra dollars spent on a good setup will be well worth it in the long run.
