bjthebandit got me thinking about something. ............ She suggested a challenge table or ring game for older than 65, which I think is a good idea, but that got me thinking of other challenge tables or ring games with special age or sex requirements....I'd like to know who the best female bank or one pocket player is...also who is the best under 16 ring game player...It's practically endless......Any other ideas and HELP could be used from the AZ'ers.....................Greg/Diamond................We've got tables at least at night sometimes and it's our duty as promoters to entertain ,,,so..........what do you want to see??

If you have a 16 and under ring game, i would be in it in a heart beat, not to mention if we got accustats to tape it, it would sell.

Greg, I'd like to see some tables set up as challenge tables. Similar to the BCA in vegas a couple of years ago. There were $10, $20, and $50 8-ball and 9-ball as well as an open ring game table. Those tables were going almost non-stop with the winner keeping the table. You could pick your game and your price and post up your dollar on the rail and play. Probably get more action with bar boxes. Can't wait for January! Good Luck

I think this is a great idea....gives anyone a chance to participate based on the amount of money and favorite game that he/she wants to play. I think it would be a success.

I second that. Its a great idea. I'll be there.

Challenge tables, different amounts, different games sounds like fun to me...All anyone needs is to let me know what where and when and we'll do it! Look me up when you get there and we'll get a signs made what's going on the said table...Greg/Diamond

I really enjoyed playing in the one handed onepocket tourney that was held there a few years back. I would like to see that return. Was really fun.

A 16 and under ring game (or any game designed specifically for minors) if gambling were involved seems like risky business for the promoters.

Who knows what some DA could twist that into.

Just my 2 cents

Good idea!

But I would make it $20, $50, and $100 tables. If you can't play the $20 table, you shouldn't be playing. And the other 2 will catch a lot of real good players. Then the almost busted players from money matches, can get on the $50 or $100 table to try to roll up what little bankroll they got left. $10 table is too cheap for DCC. You could make it 10 ball on the $100 table.

Greg, I would like to see a challenge table with players talking smack to each other.

Guys like Keith McCready, Greg Sullivan ( Greg S is a good talker/woofer ;-) ), Jonathan Hennessey, Shrimpboat, Reid Pierce, Scotty Townsend, Scott Frost, Mark Cavalier etc. (add names as you see fit, AZers). They would be able to talk to their opponent, the rail and anyone else who will listen to them as they attempt to derail their opponent's run. They would not be allowed to approach the table while their opponent is playing and would not be allowed to lay hands on them either but pretty much anything else would be fair game. A referee with good temperment would be on hand to quiet down the really loud ones when they get truly out of hand. Scott Smith would do fine as he knows the players and has their respect.

Anyway, that's my wish list for DCC.

Congratulations on your desire to continue to make DCC even better.

Warm Holiday Greetings from the Katrina wasteland.

How about a 21-under instead of the 16-under.:D

You don't look 21 or under. But an 18 or 21 and under would be great to watch. There may not be many 16 and unders to play but I could be wrong.

I could name 10 easily.

Ten people, 16 and under would make for a nice aside to the other groups.

I just didn't think that there were that many under 16 that would participate. I know there are a lot of good young players out there but I didn't see that many at last year's DCC. Guess I just wasn't looking.

Gregg, I've been to all of the DCC tournaments and you have done a remarkable job in making it better every year!!

I have a suggestion. I recall back in the early 70's in Dayton at Forest Park Billiards, they had a pay ball game that was many handed. They played 6 ball and I think it was $20 a ball with possibly 6 or more playing. I'm not sure, but it could have been on a snooker table but that was sure an exciting game with lots of action. I think a payball game on a snooker table would be very interesting.

Do any other posters recall the payball game they played at Dayton in the early 70's?

Yes, I remember the game with all the top players taking a shot at it. What we are doing this year is having an Open 10-Ball Ring Game for $100 a man. Ring 10-Ball games have been a tradition at pool tournaments going back to the 60's that I recall. This is where you see some of the best pool being played.

Jay, that sounds fantastic! It will be a winner for sure!! And exciting! I like that they'll be playing 10 ball...much better than 9-ball IMO.

Most definately am 21:D I think that a younger ring game such as the 21 under would attract alot of spectators. It would be something a little different then the norm. If this was a go I know a couple of us that would possibly come from SD. The factor that may eliminate so of the younger generation would be the $$$. I could see alot of people signing up if it were say a $250 entry versus a $1000.

Greg, I was talking with some of the guys from the deep South who went last year including myself and one of the things that they missed was watching TOP PLAYERS gambling with one another, one on one on the big tables WHERE PLENTY OF SPECTATORS COULD WATCH. Some of the action rooms were so packed, it was standing room only and less.

Couldn't a couple of tables from the large tournament rooms be allocated to gambling matches with some of the top players. Some of us would pay to watch if we had decent seating. Or is it just a matter of lack of interest on the top players part?
Thanks,
JoeyA

I'm not going to the DCC this time around, but I do have a suggestion...although it may sound better in my head. LOL.
Why not have a challenge table where it's sort of a pro/am type thing during a certain timeframe. The pro teams could shark all they want and the stakes don't have to be high. It would be more fun than anything. Well, just my .02
