Jake, I let the guys that sold me my GC4 in 2000, talk me into Championship instead of the 860 I wanted. I figured when it wore out, in a year or two, I would put the 860 on then. Like you said, the Championship is faster and I am still waiting for it to wear out. I was pleasently surprised. The 760 may be faster, I don't know. The Championship is about 1/2 the price too.

Speaking of Championship cloth, I was at a vendor just yesterday. They only supply and maintain bar tables. They use Champion Ulta cloth and I asked him how it was holding up? He said it did pretty good and if the location/bars would just keep the tables cleaner it would do better......but the interesting thing was; he mentioned he had just recieved a new product from Champion. It is the same cloth but soaked in teflon for easier cleaning. I don't know if the product is availible yet but it sounded kind of interesting...anybody heard of this new stuff???

Championship is more durable but faster. The new Teflon cloth is amazing. The pool room I play out of has it on the tables ( the owners work/worked for Championship) It is slower that the Tour Edition by just a hair. They were showing how they could pretty much throw anything on the table and just blot it up. Pretty amazing I must say. I'm pretty sure it isn't out yet. It was pretty popular at the trade show last year.

This cloth is not amazing, it is too fast. I hate it. You cant control the ball on many shots because it just keeps rolling and sliding. You will scratch much more because you will play a shot to stop 2 feet from the pocket and the cue ball will just roll on in. You want a super slick cloth like that, just go out and buy a can of silicone spray and grease up the cloth, same thing, you wont be able to stop the ball either. The speed of the cloth comes from the quality of the cloth. So they speed the inferior cloth up by coating it, I have a problem with that. The speed of their cloth also changes on you constantly as it wears. It starts out being too fast and soon is too slow.
Every Championship cloth I have ever seen has been like that. It starts out looking like and acting like simonis and two weeks later it is playing awful and its cheap qualities reveal themselves.
There are only two quality cloths on the market today, Simonis and Granita.
The championship is nothing but a Chinese import imitation, a look alike wanna be. It is pushed by table installers and sold to pool rooms under the pitch of it looks like and plays like simonis and its half the price, look at all the money you make and the pool players in here are so stupid they will never know the difference. You are getting an inferior product shoved on you because of greed and profit. It is only being sold because those selling it or putting it on make more money doing so than they do selling a real quality cloth. It gets put on at some events only becasue they pay the event to use it for publicity.
On my home table where I have a choice, I would not let it land. In the pool halls it is a fact of life because most of the owners will go cheap every time they can. When you see a room with top end tables, real simonis, centinneal balls, real see a owner who cares about the game and his patrons.
When you see a room with crap old worn out tables, crap balls and crap imitation fake cloth, you see a place where the owner thinks your dumb and stupid and he is doing nothing but profit taking and taking advantage of you.

Boy somebody is way off base. Championship cloth runs about the same price as Simonis. Please advise where it sells for half price. The last time I ordered it was $145 for a 9 ft. table. Simonis usually runs the same but lately they have offered discounts to certain rooms if they order 3 tables for less than $120 but thats because Championship is eating into their business

Most room owners keep good cloth on certain tables for the gamblers and action but would be stupid to use expensive cloth on all tables since 90 percent of business is from the naieve public(when it comes to pool)who go to play just to have fun and have no idea how to take care of tables because they do a lot of raunchy things on them. Pool rooms are not million dollar a year profit businesses. As far as the speed of Championship any pool player worth his salt will adjust to the speed just like good golfers do the greens. You live with it and not whine. Thats why some road players are so good they can adjust real quick. I have found championship to stay pretty consistent all the way through its use. Like golfers pool players are always adjusting to tables as other things effect the tables like weather, humidity, air conditioning, heat, cold, maybe someone picked up your favorite table last night and it is out of line a little.
As far as I am concerned I like the challenge of adjusting. It is the same for both players on the table.

I like the Champ. 30/30 cloth too. I think the speed helps you learn a softer stroke. As 90 % of all the players out there shoot way too hard.
My Simonis shows too many burn marks from jump balls and hard break shots...

Championship outlasts Simonis 2-1. As far as Granito is concerned they just better hope they can sell enough billiard cloth to pay their bills. I played on nothing but Simonis for 5 years, and nothing but Championship for the last 3. Let me tell you, Championship plays just fine! Having played on both and knowing that Championship plays better and lasts longer, it's a wonder anybody would pay equal or HIGHER (in most Simonis cases) for a product you have to replace much more frequently!

Sir, you better check your facts, you are obviously looking at less quality championship cloth. go back to those sites and recheck. Tour championship cloth 7 ft table is on sale for 144 bucks, a 9 ft table is 204. The other site does not mention if it is the 24 oz cloth. So it is obviously the lesser. Being a pool room owner for 28 years I guarantee I know the prices of cloth.
Remember now "TOUR CHAMIPIONSHIP" I pay around 145 for 9 ft. table being a pool room owner.
