Try to keep up. The question (not complaint) was NEVER about the tournament. It was a question about the principle of changing the format immediately before the tournament. Also, we had to win about 10 games in a row of bar table 9-ball, without the break, on our last chip (not handily IMO). Thanks for your feedback though.Go to tournament.
Wins handily.
Complains.
Pool players.
What you do in that situation is keep the same races, but now it is a blind draw. Had to do that plenty of times, no one complained.Tournament directors have a tough job. Often times they have to make a spur of the moment decision possibly changing the format of a tournament or handicapping of the players, which is not likely to be popular with everyone, but is done so for common sense reasons.
For instance, with our 8 tournament tables, we get 20–30 players for our weekly 9-ball handicapped tournament which starts at 7pm on Monday nights, and most of our players have to get up at work the next day. One night, 40 players showed up. I made a decision to make it a single elimination tournament and not change the length of the races, which is hard to do when you handicap players by games on the wire as we do.
If I hadn’t made that change, we’d of been playing until daylight.
I'd rather play single elimination on a weeknight. If I'm shooting poorly I get bounced instead of having to suffer through another match. And I'd rather play a set of reasonable length than a super short set where I may not even get a good opportunity.I made a decision to make it a single elimination tournament and not change the length of the races
