Changing Tip Advice

Hey everyone. So I've been using the Kamui Black SS for over a year now and it's about time to change the tip. It's been an amazing tip from the start with very little maintenance required. I break pretty hard with this tip and it has flattened out and has gotten pretty hard. So my question is since I've gotten use to what it is now, should I go hard and get a Black M or just replace it with another SS?

Thanks

If you liked the SS you may want to stick to that. Have you considered using a break cue to avoid the wear on the tip on your player? This would really be your best option.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Tip

You should definitely invest in a break cue. If you haven't tried one with a Phenolic tip you should try it. You can get a break or a jump/break cue anywhere from $100 - $250.

If you found a tip you really like then stick with that. If you found yourself liking the tip more when it flattened out and got harder then I recommend trying a medium tip. I've always preferred a Moori Medium. It feels great and lasts a long time. I've used soft tips before but they tend to require more maintanance and the other extreme is the hard tips which don't get as much action on the ball (but require less maintanance and last forever).

I , too, am in the process of trying a new tip. I was using LePro's but am not happy with them. I've been miscuing (sometimes at the most inopportune time) with them and they mushroom big time. I just ordered some Tiger Emerald (low-end layered) tips to try layered tips. I only used a layered tip once and had a layer fall off on me right in the middle of playing. That left a bad taste in my mouth with them ever since. If I don't like these, then I think I'm going to try making some of those "milk duds".

kamui expert, well kinda ..

Ive played with standard kamui 2 medium, and i liked thy way they played, however a moori just about gets the same results,, as for the kamui blacks, there imo the best tip available currently, i shoot with a
ob classic(kamui brown med), i-2 (kamui brown med), g-core(kamui black ss)
my most preferred shaft the z-2(1st i had kamui black soft), then switched to kamui black medium, and i was very pleased at the kamui black med performance above all, it needs chalked every shot, but it applies english and provides mobility around the table with minimum effort..

Kamui black medium ,the best tip out there, i ve yet to try kamui black hard , but i imagine as hard as the medium is the hard would be equivalent to a break tip almost..

Kamui black medium is what you need,, Trust me you will be pleased..

I found that funny too! Wow, you always have such great posts, it seems like I always agree with whatever you have to say.
I love how Black Balled quoted HIMSELF in a sales pitch, hehe.

Then the 2 of you are perfect together, aren't you, PaulieBs?!:grin-square:

I ain't selling anything! The quote was from Pooldawg's tip sale thread. I was just in a hurry and didn't use proper quoting.

Well it's obvious what the problem is. Try not to chew on the tip like beef jerky! :grin-square:

Best,
Mike

Use a Black SS again but sand the tip down so you get that harder feeling after one good practice session and just plan on the tip not last a year.

Hehe, yeah, me and myself love each other. :) I couldn't for the life of me figure out why you were quoting your own post to sell something ... I'm a bit slow, but now I see what you were talking about. Didn't mean anything nasty by it, keep posting in the Funny pic thread, I love your contributions!
