Changing wrap on a classic Adam

I just got an Adam Galaxie. Butt only.

The major problem is the logo is missing, which leads me to believe the cap was replaced. And, a thread is coming loose. Oh, the joint needs a polishing, too.

Now the butt plays very nice with my OB Raven cf. It is a keeper.

Guess what I am looking for is approval to change the wrap. Probably leather, but maybe cork. It needs a new wrap, and it will never be a collectable.

What does the crowd say?

If it were Cortland linen or something, that would be one thing. If you are going to play with it, go for it.

Funny thing is I just found a catalog page posted by @TATE which shows the cue with no logo, and with a leather wrap.

I have seen originals with no logo.

Nothing about that Cue says Cortland to me.
I think some people want it to fit because it's an older cue. I think perceptions are changing about the older cues and their designs. Lines are getting blurred.

This cue is distinctively Adam to me, which isn't a bad thing, just different.

Makers that have green spec Cortland left are going to be very careful about how they use it. I don't think they would put it on anyway.

Modern green spec would just look odd to me.

To me, black smooth leather or a subtle texture would be perfect. Black linen next best.

But it's his cue. Not being original wrap gives him a clean slate to do what he likes.

As a cue guy that's slowly becoming an expert.

I think you are going to be in for a big surprise. Let the person doing your wrap show you what it looks like underneath. I have a suspicion its a full splice cue.

Superior construction. I was going to have my cue maker Pete make me one. He builds this type of style.

If my intuition comes true then you have a gem of a cue.

The Adam catalog shows three colors of the subtle texture leather as the original options. And, the butt caps have no logo. Now, if it just didn't come with a shaft, I'd be in deep clover
