Chapter 5, Not Giving up on the Road

While on the road with Rhea we talked about this.

She should get a job that is pool related and work on her skills.

The hard part is it is hard to learn sitting in one spot.

The more you stay in one spot the less action there is and the urgency to play well seems to disappear.

...............

Yet, there are quite a few folks in the Chicago area that play top notch, and never left the area to get to their speed? And you probably know them all Geno, so no reason to name names... but geez, most folks hit the road to make money, not to become GREAT players.... I have to assume most were already VERY STRONG when the left, and maybe picked up some new info as they went along.

This so called mystical "road" is really just a dead end nowadays, So, to put this much work into something without a payout is like paying $100 to enter a tourney, without a prize pool. How many folks are gonna show up for that one ??

And the bottom line is all of us that said this was NOT a good idea, were spot on. Heck, living in Chicago, she can play tourneys from Joliet to Beloit, and not miss a beat, work a job like 90% of the other folks that do it. And they are "open" tourneys, so she will be playing men mostly, which if this is all about getting better, she will LOVE.

How does sitting at a bus stop for two days improve your pool game. If you're a C level player, I question that you can play your way to A level, at least in any reasonable period of time. If her goal is only to be on the road, mission accomplished. If her goal is to develop her game to pro level, epic fail.

Common sense dictates her pool game would benefit more by being able to practice 4 to 8 hours per day mixed with higher level competitive play. That could easily be accomplished by having a steady job in a major market such as Dallas or Chicago. She'd also get to eat 3 squares and sleep in her own bed.

Playing in the pistol perez tournament in round rock. Have alot of supporters here and can get staked in tournaments and in large money games. Trying to get ready for the texas state tournament cant wait. Doing much better now.

That's wonderful.

Being a road player is tough, even if you're a world-beater. I'm much better off now that I just play cheap and have a good job.

Wasn't going to comment but, the line that you wrote which says...

"If you're a C level player, I question that you can play your way to A level, at least in any reasonable period of time."

...is just crazy. Of coarse you can every good player was once a c player and most
I would venture if playing regularly got there in a reasonable period of time.

Now the part about practicing 4 to 8 hours a day and working a full time job
being easily accomplished, not so much.

All this makes sense, but you have to understand. Your approach is what a person would do who want a security blanket of a somewhat normal life.

We have a person who want to live life on the edge, use stake horses, and people who want to support a pipe dream.

You missed my point I think. It appears Rhea doesn't like to practice. Note I didn't say you couldn't play your way to being an A player, I added the caveat about doing it in a reasonable amount of time. Unless pool is different than every other sport, which I don't believe it is, one would probably practice 4 to 10 hours for every 1 hour they play. This is particularly true for a lower level player who lacks fundamentals. What do I know but it would seem notable professionals/instructors such as Mark Wilson would agree.

Thanks for making my point. Rhea's primarily goal isn't to become a A/Pro Level player. She's obviously an action junkie. Security blanket has nothing to do with it. Having the money to purchase your own place, purchase a pool table to put in it, purchase quality instruction, be able to practice 4 to 8 hours per day and afford to travel locally/regionally to play in quality tournaments is critical to be able to improve your skill level. Not having enough money in your pocket to eat right, sleep well and afford table time to practice is hardly going to lead to increasing your skill level and obviously leaves you living a less than desirable lifestyle for most sane people.

Tonight i got 3rd at round rock tavern and 5th at skinny bobs. Then a friend of mine set up a match between james and i playing even, my friend staked me without me asking. We played races to 5 for 50 dollars per set i lost 5 to 3 same score two sets in a row and then won a set hill hill. My friend asked james to play races to seven for a hundred a set tomorrow at 2 pm. Im glad he has faith in my game. I have potential to earn a little bit tomorrow and a place to sleep tonight.

Funny. Going from dead broke, sitting in a Grey Hound Bus Station for 2 days, waiting in desperation for someone to wire her a bus ticket, illegally entering a vehicle in order to sleep to the above quote. All in one day.

Today, some stranger makes a Thread for donations to Rhea.

Some strange shit going on here.

Other than her obvious problems, Rhea is seriously delusional.

Besides, I thought her original intention was to do this on her own. Seems lately that she is relying heavily on others to get by. She has done very little on her own so far, other than go broke. She does a great job of that.

Supporters? Can't even get a Bus Ticket to ride. Yeah, thats great support. Me thinks someone is being big fibber here.

I keep hearing Grady Seasons saying, "Its just a nightmare isn't it".

I have potential to earn a little bit tomorrow and a place to sleep tonight.

You're hardly doing this on your own. Where ya crashing. The Freight Liner Inn?

"Never say never because limits, like fears, are often just an illusion."

Our beliefs are one of the controls of the vibration of this thing we call our body. Our body is a molecular instrument, it is a mass of molecules at a very high speed of vibration. The vibration that the body is in we call feeling. When a person says they feel this way or feel that way, what they really are doing is describing the vibration level they are in. MOST PEOPLE CHOOSE THOUGHTS AND ACTIONS THAT BRING THEM BACK TO A COMFORTABLE VIBRATION LEVEL IMEDIATELY. I will describe one example of this. People get a desire (for example to seek out a new career), they then naturally experience doubt which causes the body to vibrate at what we call fear and anxiety (for example they think irrational thoughts and imagine all sorts of horrible consequences if they leave their current job). They get uncomfortable with the anxious feelings so instead of taking action they decide the desire is not worth it (they give up on their desire). They go back to what makes them vibrate at a comfortable level. The problem with them is they are in bondage, they are locked up. Their paradigm, which is what caused the doubt, keeps them in prison the difference being there are no locks on the door. They could open the door and seek freedom anytime they want only they don't.

So how do we walk through the doors of our prison. One way to do this is to break through the terror barrier. It is the fear that caused us to stay locked up but in most cases that fear is just an illusion. You see people experience doubt which causes fear, then the fear causes them to go back to where they are comfortable; the job they don't like, the wife they don't love, etc. They go back to bondage because it is comfortable but they are not happy. If they would only experience the fear and press on then the fear will eventually go away and they would be left with the reward of their desire. During this time of fear they can turn those doubts into faith if they would take the time to work on their thinking, change their beliefs, & create a new paradigm.

It is the one who persists with their desire, the one who faces the fears and continues, AND IT IS THE ONE WHO USES THE MIND TO CHANGE THEIR THOUGHTS OF DOUBT INTO FAITH who will continue to take action towards what they want when others would quit. They are the ones who break through the terror barrier and pursue their desires truely liberating themselves from the bondage most get stuck in and they are the ones who get the results in life that they truly want. Their liberation may be hell to others but it is their life. And if that person spends time examining their thoughts and directing them properly, visualizing success, while also taking action to achieve their version of success etc. then they are going to be a success at what they love so long as they don't give up because they have the laws of the universe working for them.

Satori, when a person has an addiction, their mind and body are weak. Rhea has so much negative energy attached to her, she will never rid herself of it until she gets rid of the addiction.

The Power of Positive Thinking and Manifestation is beyond her ability until she deals with her present situation. That is step one.

When your daily goal is to Manifest 100 bucks in order to live and continue gambling,
she will keep herself in a funk forever.

Rhea, at present isn't interested in anything but gambling. She tries to convince herself and us, that her eventual goal is to get herself to Pro Level. She isn't going to do that living out of a bag and from hand to mouth daily while riding on Grey Hounds.

Lying to yourself and believing your stories is much easier than forcing yourself to accept the truth.

One has to rid themselves of their inner demons before you can advance further.

Our beliefs control the vibration of this thing we call our body.

There ya go. And exactly what happens to those vibrations when you have an addiction and you are on an all time low.
When she is gambling, those vibrations are her Rush. When she wins a little, she fuels the fire and is on an all time high. When she loses, those vibrations are at a low and there is only one way to get them going again.

That is why I said she needs more direction. She needs a clearer picture of what a successful road player is and when she gets that picture and sees herself as that person then the direction will find her.

That is why I said she needs more direction.

Rhea had all the direction she needed when traveling with Gene. She has had a ton of advice from members that have been on the road and others that are more experienced
at gambling and matching up than herself.

She won't accept any advice from people that know more than her so why all of a sudden do you think that she will listen to you.

If she isn't intelligent enuff to comprehend the hints that others have been giving her, then she certainly isn't intelligent enuff to understand Positive and Negative Energy, manifestation, etc, and how to use it to her advantage.

In other words, altho your intentions are proper, you're wasting your breath.

I could ask you the same. Why do you feel the need to give her advice? Why do you continually criticize her for her mistakes amongst other things? An honest answer might surprise you.
