Charlie Byrant's X Breaker Name Contest...Free X Breaker Giveaway!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the contest ended yesterday, July 5th. It did run for 7 days...so there was plenty of time to get your submissions in.

From one of Richard's last posts, he stated that he would be making the announcement as to the winning submission sometime today. I am guessing later this evening, since he and Charlie have a lot to sift through. There were some really great, creative submissions made...and I am glad I do not have to make the decision! :)

The contest certainly created quite the 'hullabaloo' around here for a week!! It was great fun for me, and I would like to thank Richard for the opportunity for me, as well as many others, to get creative.

Ooops. I was on vacation last week so I didn't get a chance to get a submission in :). C'est la vie.

Hi everyone,

We have received a LOT of names and as it turns out, we need more time than we expected to make our decision.

We really hate to keep you all waiting but it is a very tough decision. We should be able to reach our decision by Sunday the latest.

We are also discussing a way to show our appreciation to the applicants(i.e. other than the winner) for their wonderful input. Please stay tuned.:)

Please understand that just to be fair to all those who have applied earlier, we have to discard the names submitted after the deadline, I am very sorry about that.

Thank you so much for all your support to the name contest.

Best wishes,

Richard

I would be surprised if you can make a quick decision when there is such a huge amount of suggestions. Better take all the time you need and end up having a name that can be used all over the marketing area and without need to change it soon.

I too am surprised that a decision could be made in just a few days. While it was a lot of fun for us who came up with names it seems the hard work will have to be done by richard and charlie to select one. ;) I think it's a great idea to show thanks to applicants and not just the winner, although if you think about it you're thanking tons of people who are making your decision making more difficult :D

Thanks for the 'heads up' Richard. Now I can let the others in my household have access to the computer...Lol. Looking forward to Sunday's announcement. At least then, I'll be able to clear my harddrive of all the graphics I added to it this week. ;)

Hi Richard,
fell free to take your decision. I know I retarded my contest reply of 1 hour and 43 but in the last days I had no possibility to connect to internet.
So if you like my suggestion I will be very proud.

Since everyone is waitng with baited breath, I guess I'll be the first to say, "and the results are????"

Today is Sunday.:)

I have spoken to Charlie today. He was playing in the Fast Eddie tournament. Although he has a few names that he liked, he wanted to make 100% sure that we come up with the best name, and also the best way to show our appreciation to the contestants. He asked me to let everyone know that he would like to really think this over after his tournament, and announce the result on Monday.

Let me tell you, I wrote down the names that I liked, and there was a long list. Then I called Charlie, and he had names that he liked so I wrote those down. I had meetings with my partners, and we had more opinion and ideas than you can imagine, so we had to take note of those. Now, I have a lot of names, ideas, logo, diagram...in front of me.

I just want to really thank each and everyone of you for your participation. Your input has been totally inspiring and valuable, I need to really think about what Charlie and I discussed today, and we will certainly make an announcement tomorrow night(pacific time).

By the way, I asked Charlie what his best breaking speed was, and he told me it was 34.7mph with the big cue ball on a Valley table.

I have never heard anyone with a higher break speed, have you?

Yes, George Breedlove did a 38 mph break (one time only because it was too hard on shoulder), and a few 33 mph breaks.

Someone on here made a statement on here that Chia Chiang's break approaches 45 mph, but it is unverified (or timed).

It was actually suppose to say kilometers per hour and not mph. ;) :p

I don't think any valid comparison can be made with breaks unless they are clocked by the same radar gun at the same (nearly) time.

Hi everyone,

Charlie just won the tournament at Fast Eddies, and he and I had a long talk on the phone.

We have finally come up with a name, but it is a bit complex than we expected.:)

First of all, I have to thank Twilight for his wonderful advertising ideas, the diagrams and the concept of a rocket is really good.

AZE's logo is very professionally done. I like the name Big Bang and especially what he did with the logo.

Unknown has obviously put in a lot of hours with all the logos he has submitted. I am not sure if his employer would like them as they are done at work, but I like them, and I appreciate his efforts and time.

I like a lot of the names and logos from Ridewiththewind, and Charlie likes her ideas and her participation, too. The logo of the jug was really cool. Thank you.

After very careful consideration, and taking into advice from Matt24, Twilight, and Pharaoh68, who suggested that we should keep the name simple, and stay away from too much reference to hill billy, or moonshine for that matter, we have to discard a lot of very creative names and names that we really like.

We like the X Class concept, and we like the number 347 because it emphasises on Charlie Byrant's powerful break with control.

Instead of just saying it is Charlie Byrant's line, we think it would be a better idea to place emphasis on what Charlie is capable of, which is to have the heardest break with uncanny control.

So, we have decided to use the name X347. It reminds people of a name similiar to the X class vehicle from Benz. It is truly amazing how Charlie still managed to have perfect control on his cue ball even at 34.7mph, so we have decided to use 347 to represent Charlie Byrant and his amazing break.

We also like the fact that X347 is short, simple, and universal.

As you probably notice, this name we picked was actually a combination of two names submitted by two contestants, namely, 12Squared's X Class, and RiverCity's X Breaker Version 34.7.

Therefore, instead of offering one X Breaker, we have decided to offer each of them a brand new X347 custom built to their specifications. Congratulations! :)

Please contact me at info@xtremebilliard.com to discuss the details by 17 July to claim your prize.

Lisa, please do not get discouraged. A little heads up: Charlie told me he would made a special announcement regarding you because he really likes your participation and he loves those moonshine reference!:) He will likely get on line tomorrow to make that announcement.

We also want to show our sincere appreciation to all those who have participated.

We will also offer a limited time offer of a 10% discount on a brand new X347 plus shipping to all those who have submitted their entries in this thread. This offer expires by 30 August, 2006.

The X347 will not be sold through any dealer. It will be distributed exclusively through Charlie Byrant. It is retailed at $425 plus shipping, and only about 100 will be built only in year 2006.

If the order is placed by the end of August, the first batch should be completed by the end of Sept, 2006.

Once again, thank you so much for all your participation. I hope you all had a lot of fun. Thank you so much for your interest in the X Breaker.

Richard
