Charlie Byrant's X Breaker Name Contest...Free X Breaker Giveaway!

Fun contest indeed, even though I only really came up with one name. Gave me a chance to put some of my advertising and marketing classes in college to use. Congratulations to the winners I'm just a tiny bit jealous ;) j/k but not really... or am I? :D
Richard, didn't you mention something about trading up to the X347? I really like the purpleheart curly combination, but as I already have a 1st gen Xbreaker, it's kinda hard to go out and buy another. I know my better half wouldn't really let me. Also what have you decided on with the logo etc?
Oh and in case there's a 4th generation Xbreaker and you need a name... ;) You can buy me off with a free Xbreaker.

X347 sounds kinda like a mix between a weapon (M16, AK47) and some kinda aircraft (SR71 blackbird) I think I like it.

Wow, what a pleasant surprise. Richard, thank you and Charlie so much for this very generous gift. I truly never expected to win after seeing so much creativity from the AZB members, I just enjoyed playing the game. With that said, I can't wait to receive the new X347 and begin to use it proudly. It will replace my Sledge Hammer that I've been using happily for almost 3 years.

As I've mentioned in a previous post, after testing the X Breaker out for quite a while at the US Open, I believe it to be the best j/b on the market with the amount of control it provided-I can't wait to try out the new and improved model  :D :D.

Thanks again,

Dave

Yes, Twilight. Your idea are really awesome. If I ever use them for our ad, I will certainly offer you a free cue.

Back to your question. We believe it is only fair to our customers that we offer them the option of an upgrade. I do not think any company has ever offer that. I know how much hassel it is to sell an old cue and try to come up with the money for a new one. So, we will offer the option to trade your original X Breaker for the latest model with a very resonable small fee.

It will not be for the X347 because it is Charlie's line, but I will offer an upgrade option to all those who has the original breaker in exchange for the latest model.

The new X Breaker is not ready yet, but they should be in a couple weeks. I will make an announcement then. Please hang in there.:)

Thank you so much for your graphic and name entry.

Much appreciated.

Dave,

We have come a long way since our debut at last year's US Open. The new X Breaker, and X347 are both designed to offer the best control possible.

I would love to hear your feedback on your new X347.

Thank you so much for your entries.

Best wishes,

Richard

Hi everyone,

Charlie just won the tournament at Fast Eddies, and he and I had a long talk on the phone.

We have finally come up with a name, but it is a bit complex than we expected.:)

First of all, I have to thank Twilight for his wonderful advertising ideas, the diagrams and the concept of a rocket is really good.

AZE's logo is very professionally done. I like the name Big Bang and especially what he did with the logo.

Unknown has obviously put in a lot of hours with all the logos he has submitted. I am not sure if his employer would like them as they are done at work, but I like them, and I appreciate his efforts and time.

I like a lot of the names and logos from Ridewiththewind, and Charlie likes her ideas and her participation, too. The logo of the jug was really cool. Thank you.

After very careful consideration, and taking into advice from Matt24, Twilight, and Pharaoh68, who suggested that we should keep the name simple, and stay away from too much reference to hill billy, or moonshine for that matter, we have to discard a lot of very creative names and names that we really like.

We like the X Class concept, and we like the number 347 because it emphasises on Charlie Byrant's powerful break with control.

Instead of just saying it is Charlie Byrant's line, we think it would be a better idea to place emphasis on what Charlie is capable of, which is to have the heardest break with uncanny control.

So, we have decided to use the name X347. It reminds people of a name similiar to the X class vehicle from Benz. It is truly amazing how Charlie still managed to have perfect control on his cue ball even at 34.7mph, so we have decided to use 347 to represent Charlie Byrant and his amazing break.

We also like the fact that X347 is short, simple, and universal.

As you probably notice, this name we picked was actually a combination of two names submitted by two contestants, namely, 12Squared's X Class, and RiverCity's X Breaker Version 34.7.

Therefore, instead of offering one X Breaker, we have decided to offer each of them a brand new X347 custom built to their specifications. Congratulations! :)

Please contact me at info@xtremebilliard.com to discuss the details by 17 July to claim your prize.

Lisa, please do not get discouraged. A little heads up: Charlie told me he would made a special announcement regarding you because he really likes your participation and he loves those moonshine reference!:) He will likely get on line tomorrow to make that announcement.

We also want to show our sincere appreciation to all those who have participated.

We will also offer a limited time offer of a 10% discount on a brand new X347 to all those who have submitted their entries in this thread. This offer expires by 30 August, 2006.

The X347 will not be sold through any dealer. It will be distributed exclusively through Charlie Byrant. It is retailed at $425 plus shipping, and only about 100 will be built in a year.

If the order is placed by the end of August, the first batch should be completed by the end of Sept, 2006.

Once again, thank you so much for all your participation. I hope you all had a lot of fun. Thank you so much for your interest in the X Breaker.

Richard

Yes, Charlie did win the Tournament at Fast Eddies this weekend and looked very solid in doing so,
From what I saw this weekend, I think "The Hillbilly", is back.
Good luck in Vegas.

Sorry guys, I don't mean to create controversy, but it seems like Unknown deserves a big share of the credit for the name choice. His post (post #123) is the first entry that included a reference to Charlie's break speed. Sure it's 0.3mph off, but the idea is still there.

I'm not suggesting that Richard gives out another stick to Unknown. Richard has been MORE than generous holding this contest for us and giving out not one but TWO of his valuable cues, not to mention his 10% discounts to all of us. I just feel that Unknown deserves a bit of recognition on the final name choice.

JMO.

Again, thank Richard for holding this contest. It was fun.

Lisa,
You have made this contest a lot of fun. Without your participation it would not have been the same.:) :)
You have been a great sport, you even helped others with their logo and that is just awesome!.
Actually, your names are all very creative and original. We had to make the painful decision of not using the names you submitted. I really wish we could have used them.
Nevertheless, Charlie really loves your participation, the logo you chose, the names you came up with, and so on.
He does not have regular access to the Internet but he said he would try to log in tomorrow.
If he does not have the time, I will make the announcement tomorrow for him. It will be posted here.
Once again, thank you so much for joining the contest.:) :)
Richard

Richard...it was good fun, and a great way to spend the summer doldrums.:) Glad I could help keep the creative juices simmering amongst all those who participated. I think everyone did a great job on coming up with soooooo many different submissions. There are some very innovative people here on AZB. :D

Lisa....who is just dying of curiousity over this announcement! Lol.

I like to reward hard work Lisa. You were very creative and genuinely helped this thread along on a daily basis. Thank you for spending as much time as you did helping Richard and I out. You made a difference.

Sorry to keep you waiting but I liked alot of the different submissions from many of the posters on this thread plus I had a tournament to win over the weekend.:D :D As a token of appreciation, when the cues are finished, I will make sure that you get one. I'll PM you when the cues are ready to be sent out so you can give me your mailing address.

As a special thank you to everyone else, we decided to offer the discount mentioned previously by Richard. Again, I would really like to thank all the AZB'ers who submitted ideas. In the end, we tried to keep the name short and simple so that it could be recognized and understood worldwide.

For the record, I broke at 34.7 at the VNEA in Vegas when I was either 28 or 29 on the radar gun they had set up there. It was the year I finished second in the 9-ball event. It was the first time I had ever really played anything that big.

Woopeee!! Yeehawwwww!!! What an absolutely wonderful surprise!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you so very much! I am tickled beyond all belief.
I am soooo looking forward to receiving this quite unexpected gift!! I am all giddy, here....LOL!!!

Oh my goodness......congrats on your win this past weekend! I just don't really know what else to say currently. Again, thank you so very, very much.

Lisa

I am still reeling from this news. I never win anything....I come close, but always seem to come up short.....'til now!:D
What's really cool is, I have been really, really needing a good break cue, because my break has definitely been the weakest part of my game. And instead, I'm getting like one of the BEST break cues on the planet!!! I can hardly wait to receive it!!!

I almost feel guilty...almost, Lol...about being awarded one of these new X-Breakers. There were just so many great submissions.....it must have been an extremely difficult task to make a final decision. My hat's off to all who participated......it certainly has to be one of THE longest threads around here in a while.:D :D :D

Lisa...who is still pinching herself!!!

just wondering if anyone took into consideration of how easy it is to find a name you like then edit your post to make it yours....hopefully this wasnt done.......

I doubt that this happened, as Richard was pretty diligent in monitoring the submissions......heck, I even missed the 3.47 submission...but it's there. Besides, the name decided upon was actually a combination of two submissions, and those two posters were awarded with X-Breakers. Everything was on the up and up.

Lisa

Lisa,
Congratulation! It was Charlie who insisted on offering you a free X347. I am glad to see you being rewarded.

RiverCity,
You need to contact me by 17th July to claim you prize, this offer will expire after midnight, 17th July Pacific time.

Unknown,
I am very sorry. We picked 347 rather than 35 because the precise number of Charlie's highest break speed, in our opinion, is really important.
Having said that, you have been very creative and I like your logo and your taking the time to enter.
If RiverCity does not claim his prize by the deadline, how about let me award you a X347 instead?
Of course, if you rather have your Y287, then I will not force you to change your mind.:)

To all the contestents,

I am not sure if I was being clear, the X347 is a limited edition line which will be available only through Charlie Byrant, with only about 100 of them ever be built.

It is a highly collectible item. I will not offer this design/wood combination again. This design is only available until March 2007.

We will offer 10% with free shipping to all those who have participated in the name contest(until August 30th, 2006).

The discounted price is $380 for Azers who have submitted in this thread, and shipping to the lower 48 via FedEx is free. I do not usually offer any discount on my cues. I have decided to offer this discount because I have been so overwhelmed by all the names and logos and ideas, thank you so much for all your participation.

Thank you.

Richard

:D i like the way you think, but the decisions been made so what can you do right.

thanks for the second chance offer on the cue richard but i can't see anyone passing up the chance to own a limited edition cue especially when they have a full week to claim it. i guess ill have to live with my y287 ;)

A Big Thank You for Charlie!!!

Richard sugested that I post it here, as neither of us have your email address.

Charlie, I just wanted to return a gift in kind. Richard said that you really liked the 'moonshine' jug logo that I came up with during the contest, so I modified it a bit, so that you can have your very own logo, if you wish. I am posting the one in color, but have a black and white version of it as well. It is simple and to the point, and it is yours to do as you wish with it. *** I decided to add the mule.....just because I think you have power in your break like a mule has in it's kick!!!

Thank you again, so very much!!

Lisa
