I'm flying to another state to visit relatives for a few weeks. I'd like to have a cue to play with during that time.

Have you had any good experiences with low end cues that you might recommend? I'd expect to probably pay $100-$200 and leave the cue there for my next visit.

Buy the Schmelke

something from Wisconsin......McDermott, Viking, Schmelke, Pechauer, Jacoby.....or if you got money to burn, Schon

Plan B...contact a pool room where you are traveling to and see what they have to offer, or can get for you....have it waiting for when you arrive.

What do you normally play with?

A 1990s McDermott butt (about $350 then) with a Bull 12.25mm CF shaft (about $400 a few years ago). Between them is a 2" center extension that's there for the forward weight.
Plenty of reasonable CF cues out there now as several have said.

And an extension is cheap if that pleases you.

I traveled to 15 stated and 9 countries with my old Joss. I don't know if I would risk it today.

I don't know how your combo feels though. I don't know if you like the dull feeling popular today or the ping of yester-year.

I am guessing with an extension and CF shaft it's the more modern dull feeling.

I'll go out on a limb and suggest a CF cue off Amazon, 2 or 3 suggested by others, grab an extension for it, and see how it goes.

Some people adapt rapidly, some don't. Most of what is going to matter is the shaft. That's the basis of my thoughts on the recommendation.

YMMV.

Unless you have money on the line, don't worry too much and go for it.

Just my opinion.

I got a Crical as an alternate cue and it hits pretty good. I would however recommend changing the tip.

I got one each for my wife and my grandson. I put Sniper tips on both of them. I am satisfied with the way they now play, especially for the price I paid for them.
