Well, He does not know, I sold that Veloscity to Dave and he put it on there. It originally had Simonis on it.I played on that table after the Veloscity went on it and i hated it. We played on it in the in house Monay night league and my Wednesday night league. After a while it needed to be restretched. You can go look at it, and i bet the cloth is, loose. I can dig up the receipt, but i do not think that is necessary. Thanks, Ron

I second this. This is the problem with Simonis-like cloth, you put it on and there's no movement in the cloth, after a few month this cloth is moving when pushed.

So if a worsted cloth is not Simonis you categorize it as "Simonis-like"?
Would that include other worsteds like Tour Edition, Granito, Milliken, Elite Pro, Vestra, etc?
Do we blame the cloth or the installer if the cloth gets loose?
I'll give 2 to 1 that if Glen installed any of these cloths, to include Velocity, it's not going to get loose.

And to Ron - when I see Chris next week I'll pass on that he doesn't know what cloth is on his table.
Maybe he forgot. I'll let you know what he says.

Maybe, he did forget. I did not forget, because i sold it to Dave and played on it, after it was installed. Dave has been installing cloth at shooters for over ten years and we never had Simonis get loose, after play. Maybe it was the installers mistake, but i am just stating the facts. I and others noticed that the cloth got slower over time. That table was the newest table at Shooters. Why would he remove that table and not one of the older ones? That is the only table that did not have Simonis on it.Thanks, Ron

Why wouldn't he just change the cloth rather then move the table.

Look Ron, this isn't about Chris or his tables.
Any cloth installed and stretched correctly should not get loose over time.
The only exception to that might be in a severe humidity environment.

If any cloth at Shooters (or elsewhere) slows down it's probably due to either the install or piss-poor or no maintenance.
I was there when Dave did that front table which had a significant amount of chalk dust under the cloth.
He personally remarked that they don't maintain the tables and this was obvious anyway
by looking at the condition of the other tables, table lights, balls and house cues.

Let's not be so fast to blame the cloth without considering the other conditions and variables that affect how a table plays.

Hey, Rick. Do not jump to conclusions. I know the full story about the tables. I have been playing there for over 18 years. Before there were even table upstairs. Yes the tables are not maintained like they should be, but this is not about Chris and his tables. You are correct. I brought up that table, because it still has Veloscity on it and you wanted to know what it looked like after it had been played on for a while. Do not try to twist the story! What Dave did not tell you, is that he worked there for over 15 years and took care of the tables. It was just recent that Chris bought the Diamonds and the Valleys were sold. You should know this since you have an office in Rockford. The bottom line is, The cloth was installed and it played bad. It got loose over time and it was the first one that did that in over ten years at Shooters. The cloth should not even be in the worsted line. Like others have said. Buy a non worsted cloth that plays fine and it will be better. If you like the cloth than that is your opinion. This is mine and others. Sincerly, Ron

You are a dart player and you do not know this answer? The reason the table was removed is because we used to have leagues in there Monday through Thursday and Free pool on the weekends. this stopped when the new Diamonds came in and they quit giving away free pool to the league players. Now they have Two leagues a week and they are not full.
They Moved out the only Diamond with out Simonis on it for more dart boards.
This is the first time that has ever happened since the upstairs was open. That was right after Dave left the pool hall. Thanks, ron

Maybe a little mixup here Ron.
We're interested in the printed cloth with the shooters and diamond logos.
That's the one we want to evaluate to see how it plays and holds up in a banger environment.

I already know how properly installed Velocity plays and looks.

I did not know that the table in storage, had a logo on it. It did not have one on it last time i seen it.

Don't know what you're talking about Ron.
I've never played pool at Shooters and had only been upstairs once prior to the printed cloth install.
I haven't been to Shooters in 4-5 years and back then it was on an occasional Fri night for the blind draw dart tourny downstairs.
Back then I also played in Allieds dart league with the Arachnid team and we never played at Shooters.

I think you're getting the tables confused.
No offense dude but you may want to reread this thread from the beginning.

post

You may want to reread my post. Every thing i have talked about, is the table in storage that has the Veloscity on it that played bad. Duane said you could check it out and if you read this thread, most of it is about Veloscity not the logo cloth. I am talking about the Veloscity and you know that. Ron

Just to kind of set the record straight for everyone here, yes I've worked at one time or another with just about every cloth mentioned in this thread, and I've never had to come back and re-stretch any cloths at any time. At Pool Sharks here in Vegas, I installed some Velocity Pro cloth on the Diamond ProAm in the pit, as well as the Diamond ProAm in the first row of tables up top.

On the pit table, I stretched the cloth 4" wide, but after installing it, I noticed that I didn't really care for how the grain of the cloth looked because it appeared as if I over stretched the bed cloth. So on the second Diamond I only stretched the bed cloth 3" wide and it looked fine. The cloth stayed on the tables for about 3 weeks or so, until John asked me if I'd please recover the tables again, only this time in Simonis Tour Blue because the Mosconi cup players were in town, and that they only played on Simonis, so I did. John has someone else that recovers the rest of the tables in the pool room, and as far as I know, he still uses the Velocity Pro cloth on the tables the lesser players play on, but still keeps Simonis on the more important tables in the house.

If the cloth is stretched tight right the first time, and no one wets it down with a "wet" rag, it'll stay tight, that's all I'm saying;)

Glen
