well guys, sorry to say but I lostuse of a computer shortly after posting this thread.
I did end up going to clifton billiards and had a good time there.
it is on the 2nd floor with est 15-18 gold crowns, some looking better than others.
I ended up playing with a couple of the regular there on what must be table 1 and table 2.
table 1 is a blue clothed well lit gc with shimmed skinny pockets. I shot very well on that one.
switched over to the adjacent table (challenger's choice) and despite it having standard big pockets, my game went down some playing on it.
got to chat a little with the very busy owner, Vince, nice guy, played all over the country in his younger days. there's a pic hanging with him playing efren. Vince does instruction and his specialty is 14.1.
I didn't get the details but apparently, this hall has 'reopened' not very long ago. Vince and I briely discussed the perils and pitfalls of pool hall economics.
okay, here was the surprise of the night for me.
there was a steady stream of people going up to the bar getting food orders and the smell from the cooking was everpresent. So naturally, I caved in and ordered and found out the reason why so many were eating there. the food is *excellent*.
I ordered their steak tacos and they were top restaurant quality. when I complimented them, vince told me" thanks, it's ribeye"
their menu included dishes named after ginky, kid delicious, grady, and efren.
they told me they have a 9b tourney every sat at 3pm. I was too late to play in that but did get to watchthe tail end. a sharpshooting oriental girl named ada took 2nd place in this handicapped event.
clifton billiards is a nice place to play some cheap sets and grab a high quality bite to eat.
Iggy; sorry I didn't get your message in time, though, there's an outside chance I might be able to go there again this evening. pm me if you are avail with your phone number and I'll check back in later to let you know.
report filed.
best,
