Does anyone make cheaper glasses for pool? I know a guy that plays decent til it's a long shot. He tried every normal pair found locally but of course there not high enough and he can't pay the $250 the eye doctor wants just to shoot pool with

Before I got pool playing contacts I took a pair of cheap reading glasses and flipped the "temples" (the things that go over your ears) so I could wear them upside down and not be looking over the top of them while down aiming. Worked well; looked goofy.

Try Readers.com or eyebuydirect.com. They have a wide variety of styles, some with large lenses that appear to reach above the level of the eye brow.

Wear those into a room and say you are looking for action and you will get all you want!
My nickname at the pool hall is already "The Rent" (as in "here comes...").

Working with the Optometrist and the Optician on this. They want pictures of me shooting to see the pupil location. First shots I had to throw out because the pupils always seemed to be focused on the upper rim. Found out that if I use the tripod and remote and set it just below rail level, you can actually see the pupils in different portions of the glasses frame. (Cropping and enhancing in Photoshop, unfortunately.)

They gave me more of an Aviator style frame to use for pictures. Their experience with speciality sports glasses, including pool, is that the North-South lens dimension needs to be long, while width becomes less important as for most situations, peripheral vision is less in play.

I hope to get back over there in a couple weeks with the pictures and measurements and figure out the order.

Bet he doesn't know where they are...

Quoted for Truth! I recently spent almost 5 minutes looking for my favorite hat while the fam waited for me in the wagon.

My wife walks in and asks, “what’s the holdup?”

“I can’t find my, ‘More cowbell hat’,” I replied.

My wife stifled a laugh and pointed out my hat was on my head. There was no need to drag the couch away from the wall; but maybe I’d find some of those mismatched socks.

That's what it's all about -- that's key. The more length the lens has, the better. And pairs with height adjustable nose bridges are really optimal, but there are easy mechanical tricks and material add-ons to acceptably raise any bridge.
