Cheating whats the rules

I don't know if this counts as in cheating, obviously in the end he tried to explain it to the other player. But I am not sure if he would've done it if it weren't advantageous for him to respot the 7. If I were the referee I probably just give ball in hand to the other player and respot the 7.

what do call it then when you pick up a ball and put it in your pocket with your hand

That was pretty funny. Here is the rule according to those listed on onepocket.org:

6.5 Driving either the cue ball or an object ball off the table is a foul, whenever either comes to rest off the playing surface, or comes in contact with anything other than the table itself while airborne.

I would interpret this as an object ball leaving the table, wouldn't you? I would think the right thing to do is to spot the ball that left the table plus one that he would owe. Not put it back where it was that benefits the one that fouls. And if they decided to put it back, I would put it back and the ball he owes after his shot, again to not benefit the person who fouled.

Of course this is all a guess based on the rule.

Looked like it could easily have just been a brain fart on his part. I once was playing a guy 9 ball and he literally put a ball in his pocket...in his pants pocket!

Yea I know but I do believe it's just a brain fart, I mean he probably know hes on the TV table and there are commentators watching the game. Why would you cheat under such circumstances? There are also audiences watching the game.

why do people try and cheat at casinos everybody knows that they have cameras everywhere and are being watched but they do

Rack manipulation is an automatic loss of game in my book. I hope onepocket.org has a provision like that in their rules. They need to add it if so.

the onepocket.org rules adds to the general rules of the WPA
this rule from the wpa rules regarding unsportsmanlike conduct
...
6. Penalizing Unsportsmanlike Conduct
The rules and regulations give the referee and other officials considerable latitude in penalizing unsportsmanlike conduct. Several factors should be considered in such decisions, including previous conduct, previous warnings, how serious the offense is, and information that the players may have been given at the Players’ Meeting at the start of the tournament. In addition, the level of competition may be considered since players at the top levels can be expected to be fully familiar with the rules and regulations, while relative beginners may be unfamiliar with how the rules are normally applied.

....
so i the guess the referree decides the penalty

to me it should be loss of game at the least

Ditto. I was a spectator in my case. The guy didn't understand the rules and when people kept telling him to put the ball in the pocket, that's what he did.

Freddie <~~~ like all good stories, it was in a bar

Could have been a brain fart. One of the things I look forward to is my 60th birthday so I can claim Alzheimer's as an excuse.

Does anyone have the time stamp? When I click on the link it takes me to the beginning of the video.

*Edit, I saw the shot.

I'm going with honest mistake there for sure. I've done similar, with spotting balls on the line after fouls. Forgetting if the ball by the line is one that was already there, or one you pulled out of the ball return and rested on the table while you spot the other ball (when spotting multiple balls).

That's the way it seems to start, but if I click on the time axis it starts the "highlight".

I think it was just a thinko.

The funny part is that if the 7 had been on the table after the opponent's next shot, Roger would have had a chance to run out.

The first shot in the video was credited as a great shot...but it looked like a push shot to me. What do you think?

I think he got very, very remarkable action for hitting the ball in the middle and nearly full on the object ball.

I wonder how many more balls he could of put in the pocket before
his opponent said '' hey I think somethings wrong here''. Pretty funny
and dumb rolled up into one.
