Wow, that's a lot of names on the list, though. I like seeing that many names.

Even though they are not all paid, it does show that this tournament has generated some interest.

Its already got 40k paid into it so even if it turns out to be a 200k tournament with 40 players that is still going to be a cool event with a nice payday.

That's for sure. It is going to be a cool pool event.

I remember when Allen Hopkins first came out with the Skins Billiards Championship. He was promoting it at the U.S. Open.

Allen and Keith are good friends, going a long way back, and each time they run into each other, they usually end up having fun together, especially if they are in the casino environment. ;)

At the Open, Allen invited Keith to the very first Skins. The first 16 (I think it was 16) players invited who paid the $5,000 entry fee to the Skins were in. That was the first one.

Thereafter, each time Allen Hopkins had a Skins event, there was a waiting list for those who wanted to get in.

It's the same thing that happens each year at his Pro event at Super Billiards Expo. It always fills out way ahead of time because the pros know a good thing when they see it.

Allen knows how to make things happen. He is trusted by the players, and when he builds it, they all come. This is the first year of the million-dollar event. I betcha that next year, after everybody sees the payday this year, the player roster of 200 will be full, and a waiting list will be in force. :)

I remember the first time I ever saw you and Keith was at the 2005 Skins I believe it was,its the one Santos won like 70K+ against Danny B.I think Allen Hopkins is the best pool promoter out there and is smart and business savvy. If we want someone to get behind and support its him,he wont take us for a ride and is respected.I hope he gets atleast 40 spots filled but wouldnt be suprised at all if he got half of it filled.I am thinking it would be a good idea to get some of us on here to sponsor a player, get 52 AZers at $100 a piece and take a shot with a seasoned pro who needs a sponsor, would be fun for all of us sweators, agreeing on a player would be the tough part but thats where the 52 would just vote on the options. :)

It's probably too late for that today, being that the tournament is right around the corner in a week or two.

However, that is a good idea for next year, Lenny. I actually think maybe a regular AzB-er who posts on here should be the recipient, not a part-time poster or one who posts a few times a year.

My suggestions would be JimmyM or Oscar Dominguez (MexPoolPlayer) or The One (Craig Riley) or David Sapolis (Blackjack) or Walter Kochs (BlackBalled) or Josh (Nine Ball), just a few names that come to mind at the time of this writing. I think it should be a real "regular" on this forum.

100 bucks may be too high for some members. However, maybe open it up at $5 on up to $100. We could have a raffle of some sort at the end. Each $5 donation wins a ticket in the raffle. We could maybe get a donation for the raffle by an industry member who reads this forum.

I like your idea. It's doable and is a great way to keep the AzBilliards spirit alive and well.

I see Hugh Jass is not going to play this year. Shame. Mike Hunt will miss him.

Mike Rotch is aching to play but is a little bit camera shy.
